Craven Compliments of Friends This page compliments of friends of Trinity Senior High School 200 A North Carolina schoolhouse, typical of the ones in use when Union School was established in 1832 Duke University Wasn't Born Yesterday. Duke University isn’t a young school. It began in 1832 as Union School, located in Randolph County and destined to become Trinity College, Trinity High School, and eventually, Duke University. In the 1939 edition of The Trinhian, Duke University joined Trinity Senior High School in paying tribute to their mutual founders. The educators who established Union School and later Trinity College prepared the way, through their devotion to the highest educational ideals, for the emergence of Duke as a university of national stature, dedicated to the same ideals and determined to provide increasing opportunities for learning. Today, Duke University again expresses gratitude to its forefathers and at the same time salutes Trinity Senior High School, in whose progress the University feels a very special pride. DUKE UNIVERSITY Durham, North Carolina 201 202 Past Is History ... Future Plans Made... Present Is Reality... Again We Face The CROSSROADS... Pe Blo, Much hard work and co-opera- tion went into the making of 1971 Trinhian. With the com- bined effort of Mr. Coggins, the annual staff, parents, and teachers, the 1971 Trinhian was a success. A special Thanks should go to many people for their understanding and help to Mr. Coggins and to the teachers when it was necessary to inter- rupt their classes. To Pam Mason and Sylvia Johnson who worked diligently on the Participating section—I thank you. Also, a special Thanks go to Becky Sink and Kathy Bouldin who spent many long hours on the Happening section. In the Competing section this year, Betsy Sumner worked faithfully with many long hours | involved, Thank you, Betsy. A very special Thank you is extended to David Smith in serving as one of the business managers. Thank you, Joyce Bulla, for the many efforts on the Indivi- dualizing section. Recognition should also be given to Paul Stewart and Jackie Boylen for their work as section editors. To everyone who helped in the making of the 1971 Trinhian a special recognition is given. The 1971 Trinhian would not have been a success without you. Thanks again to everyone, es- | pecially Mr. Roy B.
