Tie sas, a rt i petty sh ut ot HH fils ttt ty fie ’ StS eet ah yiyke ie] te oe gente oF The sands in the hourglass have — run steadily and fast for the seniors | of 1966. The years have passed all too swiftly until there are but a few brief moments left in which to prepare ourselves for our divergent futures. It is with these thoughts in mind that we the editorial staff have tried to capture through pic - tures and.words, the story of this, the 1965 - -1966 school year. THE TRINHIAN Those Special Moments This was the year of the big snows. . . but for the students at Trinity, this was just another reason for enjoying life more. It has been a year for festive moments in class and out. . . ordering and receiving class rings, a gala Junior-Senior prom, and homeroom orders for calling cards and caps and gowns for the seniors. It was a year for the enrichment of lasting friendships. Enjoying the moment. . . this was the catalyst that caused each of us to excell in the areas of educational development. As the sands sifted, we grew in the areas of classroom panels, the vocational realm of shop skills, and the art of homemaking, our dedication to and our methods for study matured, our desire for knowledge grew in the experimental labs and our appreciation for the artistic was enhanced in the ceram- ics Classes. THE TRINHIAN 1966 Dedication To one who, with whole-hearted service and sincere interest in the youth of Trinity, has contributed to our school during the past years. To one who, with kindness and sin- cerity, has established a personal friendship that we shall always cherish; we dedicate with respect, appreciation, and pride the 1966 TRINHIAN to Pop Seward. TENNYSON A yearbook is more than just a sentimental collection of pictures. It is a recorded history of ourselves; our successes and our failures; our hopes and aspirations. As the years roll along, let us hope the recollections and memories take on more and more meaning. O. 2 Llsy Hawkee Mr. C. Wilton Hawkins Principal Mr. Underwood serves Trinity in many ways. Other than being the assistant principal and a mem- ber of the faculty, he is manager of the school store, director of the driver's training program, and manager of the school buses and drivers. Mr. Underwood is the man behind the scene. He is always doing something for the benefit of the school. Many of the things he does goes unnoticed, but they are greatly appreciated. Thank you, Mr. Underwood, for your contributions. Mr. D. S. Underwood Assistant Principal Helping to make the office one of the friend- liest spots of Trinity High School, is our school secretary, Mrs. Hilda Brady. She works con- stantly managing the reports and affairs of the office. She is never too busy to give everyone her special smile. Her winning personality has made her a favorite with all of the students. We owe much to Mrs. Brady, who has helped to make our high school years happier through her service. Mrs. Hilda Brady Secretary 12 Efforts Have Been Administered by: Mr. Charles Baldwin Miss Anne Felton A friendly word of encouragement, a helping hand extended when needed, and an interest in each and every student at Trinity describes our guidance counselor, Mr. Baldwin. Mr. Baldwin attended Appalachian State Teacher's College and later received his AB Degree from High Point College. He has served the students at Trinity for the past two years. We sincerely hope that Mr. Baldwin will remain a part of the ad- ministration for many years to come, Miss Felton attended Eastern Carolina College where she received her AB Degree. In 1962, she obtained her MA Degree from Appalachian State Teacher's College. Picking up paper, sweeping, and dusting are just a few of the jobs that keep our custodians working long after school is out each day. 14 “= aM CURRICULUM More and more students at Trinity planned for the future by taking business education courses. One of the basic courses in this field was typing in which students worked hard to gain speed and accuracy. Meanwhile the shorthand students were diligently taking dictation and translating letters. The fundamentals of keeping rec- ords became familiar to bookkeeping stu- dents and knowledge became practical when students learned to use a variety of office machines. We want to say thanks to all of you. To Mrs. Smith, who was always willing to help when we really needed her backing; to the teachers and Mr. Hawkins go hearty thanks for your patience with interrupted classes, picture sales, col- lection of subscription fees, and the distribution of books. Students, thank you for putting up with our not so-efficient picture schedule and for helping us out with information. To our annual staff, for an efficient job of typing, proofreading, for soliciting ads, and identifying the hundreds of pictures, thanks.
