Salutatorian AUDREY NELSON Congratulations, Beverly and AUGECYOnereccivinge these, Our standing honors! Page Thirty-Five d un- er 2) 6 @ G i a Student Co WRITINGS IN THE SKY Who would possibly guess that the high and mighty Seniors of '59 could have been a group of confused, green freshmen only four short years ago? It took us a while to get used to the routine of high school, but when we finally did, we really felt a part of the school. We began our adventure four years ago with our Freshmen Advisors, Miss Patsy Cranford, Miss Eve Baker, Mr. J. W. Hines, Mr. D. S. Underwood, and Mr. Romulas Skaggs. One of the highlights of that year was the Freshmen-Sophomore Prom. The theme was ''Somewhere Over the Rainbow. We really got into the swing of things as steadily rising Sophomores, with our Counselors, Mrs. Claude Thayer, Mr. Bennie Robbins, and Mr. Romulas Skaggs. Those that had an average of 95 or above were accepted into the Beta Club, the initiation was a hilarous event. Again, the Freshman-Sophomore Prom with the theme, ''The Wishing Well'' was a memorable occasion. After a brief summer vacation we trudged back to the little red school house but with lighter hearts, for we were now Juniors. Our Sponsors were, Miss Pat Ballard, Mrs. Laymon Sprye, and Mrs. Brown Cumby. An unforgettable event of the year was the presentation of the Junior Play, Just Ducky, under the direction of Mrs. Laymon Sprye. We shared our appreciation with the Seniors by giving them a banquet at Meyer's Garden Room, Greens- boro. The theme was Oriental. '' With the supervision of Mrs. Lawerence Frank and with the help of all, the banquet was a wonderful success. The top highlight of that year was when we ordered our class rings and calling cards. SENIORS! When we had finally risen from the ranks to the number one spot! At the beginning of the year we implied to the teachers that we knew everything and that there was no use to try to teach us any- thing else, but were they discouraged? No! Even with knowing everything we found that we had to brush up on our lessons before class. Our Senior Advisors were, Mrs. Brown Cumby and Mrs. Gurney Peace. Our Principal, Mr. T. H. Smith guided us through our entire adventure. It was a big day for us when our beloved class rings arrived. And too, we felt important when we received our calling cards and invitations. Then came the voting for our class flower, the red and white roses. Our mascots were, Gay Pierce, Ronnie Nooe, Terra Wood, and Johnny Lowe. Our motto was Let us live well today so that every yes- terday will be a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope. ' We visited the Moorehead Planetarium, in Chapel Hill and had a wonderful trip to Washington. When we receive our diplomas, the history of our 'Heavenly Adventure as a group comes to a close at Trinity High School, and each member will write his own history by his future deeds. TRINITY HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS This year, as always at Trinity, sports have playeda major part in our school life. They have brought joy and spirit to the participants as well as the: spectators. Each game in sports, as in life, cannot be won; some must be lost. But then, what is defeat? Nothing but education; nothing but the first step to something better. It is best to remember that you are never so near to victory as when defeated in a good cause. If, at Trinity High, we can grasp this fellowship and sportsmanship, then we truly feel that we are a step further away from defeat and a step closer tONVACLOL yal THE SPORTS EDITORS Susie, Jiminy, edi Page Ninety-Eight Raise ON nf NESS ally | a CoS 7 Pos MysoB AL-wat For old TH.
