CLASS HISTORY Oncé uponla time down the halls of Trinity High Sehool, we'the Seniors of 1953 and '54 once roamed as Fresh- men. It seems as only yesterday that we began our climb up the ladder of education, and now as we are nearing the top we would like to reminiscence the past few years. Wwe began our adventure in high school in 1950 as Freshmen. Mr. Hines and Mr. Underwood were our advisors. With their understanding and patience our beginning in high school got off to a fine start. AsFreshmenwe began to participate more in school activities and join various clubs. One of the main high- lights of this year to everyone was the Freshman and Sophomore Prom because it gave us a chance to dress and act like the young ladies and gentlemen we thought we were. At the close of this term Mr. L. H. Koon, our principal, left Trinity but when school reopened in the latter part of August he was replaced by Mr. T.H. Smith. We were sorry to see Mr. Koon leave but we were happy to welcome Mr. Smith. We also found ourselves in a new enviroment when we returned to school. The construction of the new high school building had been completed and we now had more rooms and better equipment. Those that had made high grades were accepted into the Beta Club and their initiation was a fantastic exhibit. By the time the next school term approached and we were Juniors some of our friends were no longer with us. A few got the marriage fever while others dropped out or moved away. During this year we ordered our class rings and calling cards and presented our Junior Play, “The Campbellsare Coming under the direction of Mrs. Ethel Gold. We also showed our appreciation to the Seniors by giving them a banquet at the Shrine Club. Our theme was The Caravan and the Juniors and Seniors that had some gift of talent had»the program. Mrs. Anna Lee Sprye was the supervisor and with her help and direction the banquet was a wonderful success. During this year we also chose our D. A. R. good citizen. We feel as though we made a fine choice when we voted Marguerite Scott as our representative. In ‘August of 1953 we encountered the last step of the ladder we had-risen at Trinity. We were awakened to the faét that we had now become full-fledged Seniors and were entering what is perhaps one of the busiest and mé@st expensive years of our lives. Our teachers are Mrs. Peace and Miss Hedgecock. Our first excitement came when we received our calling cards and class rings.” We also visited the Moorehead Planetarium 4t Chapel Hill and spent several days in Washington. Even though it rained during both trips our spirits were high and we had an enjoyable time. Now” as we are nearing our departure from Trinity we have voted red and white as our class colors and the AmericanBeauty Rose our class flower. Our mascots are Patricia McDowell and.Davey Edwards, and our motto is “We've turned oe'r many books together . As we close our last book here at Trinity we will leave with a valuable possession, something no one can steal from us, an education. We will always cherish the memories we have shared here and wherever we go and what- ever we do we Will always remember Trinity, its faculty, and students that have laid the firm foundation that we need for the life we plan in the future. 24
