ff' Class History lt was on August 29, 1946 that we began our high school careers in Miss Crouse's and Mr. Welborn's home rooms. As representatives of Miss Crouse's room, Donald Mikles and Anne Newton won the title of Harvest King and Queen. Since this was our lirst year in high school we took part in few extracurricular activities. In our sophomore year, we had Miss Davis and Miss Cranford for our home room teachers and it was by their help that we were determined to accomplish much. Class ofhcers for Miss Davis's room were: President, BENNIE ROBBINSQ Vice President, ANNE NBWTONQ Secretary and Tresaurer, NOILMA SPENCER. Miss Cranford's room oliicers were: President, BETTY JEAN FLYNTQ Vice President, BILLY l'luIxLEYg Secretary, LoI1ENE POYNTERQ Treasurer, RocEa DAv1s. On December 3, 1947, both classes sponsored Bob jones' Quiz Show. Near the end of our school term, Miss Cranford resigned to be married and she has been greatly missed by all. When we were juniors, Mrs. Walter and Mrs. Swiggett were our home room teachers. Our class oiiicers were: President, BENNIE ROBBINS, Vice President, BETTY JEAN FLYNTQ Secretary, PEARL CASHATTQ and Treasurer, Fonnssr MENDENI-IALL. October 6 was indeed an exciting day, for we all brought our money and got those long awaited class rings. This month the class sponsored a square dance in the gym, with half' the proceeds going to the gym fund. Our profit was S102.69. In December, the junior Class presented a show, The Lazy Moon MirIstrels from which we cleared S162.00. On December 23, eleven marshals were installed in a very impressive program with Rev. Fred Setzer as guest speaker. In january there were 19 members tapped and initiated for membership in the Beta Club. With the proceeds we had made during the yearg along with the junior bookstore money we were ready to have the Junior'Senior Banquet. The theme was Far Away Places, and the Balinese Room of the Robert E. Lee Hotel, in Winstonfsalem was the scene of this gala event, on March 25, 1949. Since everyone had such a grand time and enjoyed Bill Kelly's orchestra so much, we gave a semi- formal dance in the gym on May 27. The theme was Stardust and this happily ended our junior year. On September 1, 1949, Mrs. Peace greeted her 58 Seniors and said she was proud to be our home room teacher. We were ready to begin working to make our year a happy and prosperous one. We elected our class officers who are: President, CHARLES PBACEQ Vice President, Roman DAVISQ Secretary, PEARL CASHATTQ Treasurer, BETTY JEAN FLYNT. Then we chose our Co-editors and Business Manager of the annual who are: JEAN HILL, ANNE NEWTON and FORREST MBNDENHALL respectively. The senior class voted to dedicate the 1950 tlTRlNHlAN to Miss Virginia Redding, a member of Trinity High School faculty for more than 25 years. On November 2nd Sftyatwo seniors went to Chapel Hill to the Morehead Planetarium and later in the year there were 5 seniors who attended a Social Standards Conference in Asheboro. Even though there was much to do at Christ- mas time this year, Mrs. Peace still carried out the custom of giving the class a Christmas party in the Home Economics Building. Everyone had a wonderful time. This year we sold stationery, flavoring, story book dolls, pen and pencil sets, pins and pennants to help finance our trip to Washington which is planned for April 20-23. We have won the P. T. A. membership drive and several other contests this year. Norma Spencer and Bill Hawkins were winning high school representatives from the Senior class in the Harvest Festival King and Queen contest. On April 13th and 15th, the Dramatics Class presented the Senior Play, Dear Papa. This threefact comedy was a commendable production. Our class colors are orchid and white, our llower is the sweet pea, and our motto is We accept the Chalf lenge . We hope to face the life ahead of us with an even greater faith and vitality than we had four years ago when we entered high school. MARTHA MCDOWELL Class Historian '05155v
