' 'A,,, mmm! TRINITY PULLS UP LAME AS SCULL Y INJURES LEG Track star Dennis Scully incurred a leg injury toward the end of the season which forced him to the sidelines for t e remainder of the schedule. That's the whole story as Trinity, minus Scully, limped to mediocre finishes in its last three outings, including a poor fifth place showing in the Regional. The season began optimistically with triple-jumper Joe Sewell garnering a first place finish, and the 880 relay team qScu1ly, Mudd, Fowler, Raibley a second, in the Mason Dixon ames. The Irish ' then raced to victories in their next two meets iefore capturing their first Trinity Invitational crown in the event's nine- year history. Scully ignited the Invitational triumph, notching up first in the 100 and 200 yard dashes and anchoring Trinity's winning rela teams in the 440 and 88Otyard heats. With Scully again lea ing the way, Trinity next dea locked arch-rival St. X . or first on its home track in the Catholic Invitational. A loss to the Tigers in the final event, the mile relay, prevented the Shamrocks from taking the title out- right. It was in the following dual meet with Thomas Jefferson that Dennis Scully pulled up with a leg injury in the 100-yard dash. ln the Regional Meet at Eastern, Dan Barthfqopp. pg. , to lefty and Larry Loe le fabovej highlighted the Irish fi th place finisg with victories in the mile run 44:34.
