ONE STROKE MARGIN DENIES TRINITY STA TE GOLF TITLE After rallying to a two stroke lead going into the fin- al nine holes, the Trinity golf team's bid for the state cham- pionship fell through as first round leader, Russellville, came on to take the title by one stroke. Entering the final day of play, the Rocks were down by four strokes, 307- 311, to the Russellville contin- gent. However, led by Steve Davison's 36, the Irish four- some mounted a charge which vaulted themselves into a two stroke advantage at the turn. The Shamrocks then toured the easy backside in 152, eight over par. But Russell- ville carded a scorching 149 on its back nine to overtake Trinity and post its narrow one stroke victory. Top shotmak- ers for the Rocks during the 36-hole state tournament were Bubba Clements and Steve Davison at 152. 69
