205-203 FUR TAT CRUW Overcoming a 28-3 Westport edge in diving, Trinity ral- lied to a 205-203 upset victory over the favored Warhawks in the State AAA Swim meet at Plantation. On the strength of its diving, Westport had opened up a commanding 22 point bulge, 133-111, over the Irish after the 100-yard freestyle, the seventh of the eleven scheduled events. However, in the next two events, freshmen Coleman Smock and Steve Sheridan steered the Rocks onto the comeback trail with strong third place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke and the 100-yard free style. Trinity ace Tom Pursley then virtually iced the meet by taking the 100-yard breaststroke for his second victory of the afternoon. Pursley's win boosted the Irish into a 181-171 advantage which they held through the final event. By capturing the State title, Trinity avenged earlier sea- son losses to Westport, in the Westport relays 1128-1143 and in dual meet competition Q52-451.
