SOCCER TEAM POSTS BEST EVER 5-5 RECORD With the accent on an unyielding defense, the soccer team forged a 5-5 record and nailed down fifth place in the league. Trinity limit- ed its opponents to a meager 10 goals for the regular season. Only Westport tallied as many as three goals in a single game against the Rocks. Unfortunately, inconsistent scoring plagued Trinity throughout the campaign, pre- venting the Irish from bettering their break- even record . Following a disappointing 1-0 loss to St. X in the season opener, Trinity reeled off con- secutive victories over Westport, Waggener, and St. Thomas Seminary. Then, in an abrupt about face, the Rocks proceeded to lose the next three games, before salvaging a 31- tri- umph over Moore in their season finale. In State Tournament play, the Irish ad- vanced into the semi-finals with an overtime victory over K .M.I., the number one ranked team.
