X-ME CAPTURE THIRD IN STATE MEET With a strong season's showing, the 1969 Cross-Country team has further strengthened Trinity's position as a perennial contender for the State crown. Led by seniors Harold Graves and Dan Barth and sophomore Dave Price, Coach Bealmear 's squad ran off a string of seven consecutive dual meet victories before tying eventual state co- champion DeSales and suffering a disappoint- ing late season loss to Atherton. In invitation- al meets, the Rocks rounded out the season with fourth place finishes at New Albany, Trinity, and Thomas Jefferson, and a sixth place finish at Owensboro. In each invitational, the Sham- rocks trailed eventual state co-champions De- Sales and Thomas Jefferson. In a bid for their fifth consecutive Regional crown, the harriers were stunned by the West- port Warhawks 41-58. The defeat tasted even more bitter in View of Trinity's earlier 25-36 conquest of Westport in dual meet competition. Disgusted with their sub-par regional per- formance, the Irish bounced back in the State Meet to edge Westport 140-142 for third place behind DeSales and Thomas Jefferson who tied for first.
