After the game, Coach Kennedy commented that, Urton did a fine job and loosened up Manual's defense so we could pass more to Mudd. Statistics bear him out: end Frank Mudd had his finest game of the season with 8 receptions for 129 yards and one touchdown - a 33-yard catch with 35 seconds remain- ing in the contest. 47

GRIDDERS RIP THREE OF CITY At Manual Stadium, against Flaget, sparked by quarterback Joe Pierce's 37-yard run, Trinity scored twice in the final 7 minutes and 40 seconds of the game to pull out a 13-7 squeaker over the upset-minded Braves. Whipped offensively by Flaget during the first three quarters, Trinity's dormant offense finally began to perk late in the game. With the Irish trailing 7-0 and a third-and-17 situation on the Flaget 43, Pierce fright, and bottom opp. pagej rolled left,' spotted daylight, and raced 37 yards to the Flaget 6. From there halfback Dennis Scully skirted around left end for the score. After the try for a two-point con- version failed, the Rocks marched 45 yards in nine plays to score the next time they had the ball, with fullback Joe Kirchner plunging over from the two for the winning marker. Combining a vicious running attack with pinpoint passing, Trinity rolled to a 28-6 shellacking of Manual at Manual Stadium. However, it was the Shamrock defense that protected a shaky 14-6 lead when Manual threatened early in the final quarter. On fourth down and a goal situation on the Trinity one, the Rock goalline defense halted the Crim- son advance inches from the end zone. After that, the Irish exploded for two touchdowns, one on a 48-yard return by Ronnie Hall, to post their comfortable 22-point winning margin. Overcoming the bitter November cold and a bad case of the fum- bles, the Shamrocks managed to dispose of dangerous Male 14-6 in their season finale. It was not until Ron Hall intercepted a Male pass and sprinted 40 yards for a touchdown on the final play of the game that the Rocks were assured of their ninth victory in ten outings. In the opening half, Hall had set up Trinity's first touchdown, a 36-yard by Rick Han- cock, with a punt return of 35 yards to the Male 45 . Although churn- ing out 271 yards on the ground, the Irish failed repeatedly to move out to a comfortable advantage by fumbling the ball to the Bulldogs four times. fabove, lefty Ramming ahead against an unyielding Male defense, Fullback Rick Hancock 1303 netted 108 yards and tallied the Rock 's first score on a 36-yard romp in Trinity's 14-6 triumph over the Bulldogs Qabove rrghtj Ron Hall 4403 helps put the Manual game on ice with a 48-yard touchdown Jaunt on a punt return The follow ing week, Hall clinched an Irish win over Male by returning an intercepted pass 40 yards for a score 46
