A member of the Freshman Class, we did not have Jack as a part of the student body for long, however, his untimely death saddened the hearts of us all. FOREWORD With the publication of another edition of the Olympus, the editors wish to extend their thanks to all who gave generously of time and energy. As the Olympus is the end product of the efforts of many, it is possible only through the highest degree of cooperation. We hope that this 1962 Olympus will help you recall in future years a special friend, an important occasion, and especially the enjoyable time of your life spent at Trinity High School. THE Epirors DEDICATION The value of time and interest is immeasurable in the development of students into responsible human beings. The nuclear age in which we live has been | marked by rapid and profound changes in the lives of the people of the world. Scienti- fic progress has taken place so rapidly that one must spend considerable time in reading and study just to keep abreast of the times. You who are about to be graduated face a great and growing challenge in this re- spect. As you enter the work-a-day world you must be prepared to replace persons with vast knowledge and finely developed skills. To be able to take up where they leave off requires much greater preparation on your part than was initially required of them. | Secretary to Mr. John 1962 on your accomplishments thus far and our best wishes for your continued success in whatever fields of endeavor you choose. AArsta Dorathye Ack Christman Our congratulations to you the class of Principal James R. Clark Principal Juniata College, B.S.; University of Pittsburgh, M.Ed. To have known the best, and to have known it for the best, is success in life. I wish to congratulate the members of the Olympus Staff for this fine yearbook. You have played an important role in re- cording Trinity High School 1961-62. To the Class of 1962, I wish the best of everything that life can give and hope that you can always remember your years at Trinity with pride and pleasure. You have experienced fairplay, loyalty, and honesty which have played and will con- tinue to play a most important role in your lives. You have been surrounded by wonder- ful teachers and students who have made possible for you to experience the nice ways of living. You have had the opportunity to be encouraged by and be a part of the ‘Trinity Spirit” to do things well. You have had an opportunity to experience individual and group cooperation in attaining a goal. Make use of these experiences and achieve- ments as you continue through life. It is with pleasure that I thank the fac- ulty, the Class of 1962, and the entire stu- dent body for the cooperation given to this office. Good Luck to the Class of 1962. The kaleidoscope focuses on the ever changing scenes of the past four years. You'll long remember the proms, the near- pins, the class plays, the end runs. Sometimes you may recall the theorems, the verbs, the class discussions. But always you ll think fondly of the unde- 'finable Spirit of Trinity. The scene will soon revolve again, presenting a future filled with hopes and ambitions. We salute you class of 1962! Fully indoctrinated into the Trinity family, we lost no time in launching upon a pro- gram of activity. Officers elected to serve were: President Clarence Behanna Vice President Secretary Sigle Cline Janis Martin Treasurer Janice Piecknick Miss Jennie M. Ferralli and Mr. Henry Reihner Advisors In the fall we sponsored two most sucess- ful “‘‘after-the-game” record hops. As a money making project at Christmas time, we sold student name tags. Our ‘Blast From The Past” dusty disc hop held in March was an event not to be soon for- gotten. The class party in April seemed the logical manner in which to close a year of great excitement. As we bid a fond farewell to our Sopho- more year, it is with delight that we look forward to being Juniors next year. na) Fi FF HH a FEE vale ° - rif} tititi! ne RSet 5 4 . Salil é on SOPHOMORES M. CLASS HISTORY September of 1961 saw the arrival of a brand new Freshman Class at Trinity High School—in fact, the largest Freshman Class in the history of Trinity. This class was not only large in number, but also large in ideas — ideas that will mean making the most of every single moment during their next three years here at IT. H. S. The members of the Class of 1965 are full of ambition and desire, a vib- rant energy and enthusiasm, and a hopeful anticipation of bigger and better things to come. As we take a backward glance at what has proven to be a very successful freshman year, the excitement of the class election at the beginning of the year and the class party at the end of the year will long be remem- bered by all first year ‘“‘Hillers’’! ADA AAA ase Ks Senior Class Play The Senior Class presented the three act comedy, “Knock Knock”, March 29 and 30. The play, which was based on the phe- nomena of flying objects in a home in Rhode Island, was dramatized by Anne Coulter Martens and directed by Miss Beverly J. Dunn. It was produced by special arrange- ment with the Dramatic Publishing Com- pany of Chicago. The action of the play was set in the living room of a home in the suburbs of a large city. The Cosgrove Family was dis- turbed by what some people believed to be manifestations of a mysterious “‘poltergeist”’. Objects fell from the tables, things flew through the air, and weird laughter was heard. He was one of the hardest hitting defensive players in the team. Bill’s defensive work in the middle of the line stopped many of the opponent’s scoring drives. Welchie Winston — 22 Welchie was our offensive left halfback and our second leading ground gainer. His great desire and ability made him an excellent all-around athlete. Welchie was co-captain of the team for the greater part of the season. Welchie is also planning to attend college. Welchie was also second team All-Western Conference. Albert Casper — 30 Albert played both halfback positions and, although hampered by injuries, was one of our finest runners and pass receivers in the team. Albert also did some fine de- fensive work at safety. Frank Mosier — 34 Frank Mosier, our leading scorer, piled up_ his points as a double threat man of fine running and pass receiving. Among his honors this season were the most valuable player in the Wash-High-Trinity game and nomination to the Big 33. Frank is planning to attend the University of Maryland. Robert Dragan — 39 Bob was one of those unsung heroes on our team this year. He worked hard in practice at his tackle position and this constant hustle made the first team tackles work all the harder. Bob participated in foot- ball for four years. Kenneth Hull — 45 Ken, one of the biggest men on the team played tackle for four years at Trinity. His “never say die” attitude kept him at the top of Coach Layne’s list as a defensive player. Ken tried hard at the game all four years at Trinity. Joseph Krol — 17 Joe played excellent ball this season at his first team quarterback position. He was a constant threat to the opponents with his on the spot passing and smooth ball handling. Joe was named third team all conference this season for his fine work. In the future Joe plans to attend the United States Naval Academy. 2 : ; ‘3 q ae ' : ’ : - Co ey Te e. me I a 427 499 - WU. ety ae Wo Pasir mere fof Ut 53 Oo Ed She Lie taint Spinstie Varsity Basketball The 1961-62 Basketball Season ended with Trinity three games below the .500 mark, thus showing improvment over last year’s record. Due to illness the team start- ed the season without head coach Tom Davies and for the first seven games was handled by junior varsity coach Frank Ro- tunda. This year’s squad was composed of a fine group of boys with four seniors graduating and four lettermen returning next year to form a strong nucleus for next season. Leading scorers this year were Junior. Duane Smith with 248 and Senior Joe Krol with 237. Leading rebounders were Smith with 210, senior Dave Huffman with 185, followed closely by Joe Krol with 170. Ball handling and defensive specialist was senior James ‘Skip’? Kughn who led in Thomas Davies Varsity Basketball Coach assists and interception. Also seeing much action were senior Ray Forquer and juniors Chuck Goudy, Don Resek, and Alex Griest. The latter three will be capably carrying on next year. Next year Coach Davies is looking for- ward to good reserves coming up to the varsity, good bench strength, a good shot at the section championship, and good health. First Row — C. Goudy, R. It avenged an earlier loss to our cross town rivals. The 7-5-1 record marks the poorest sea- son since Mr. Dubelle became coach in 1954. Frank Mosier was the outstanding indi- vidual wrestler of the season. He ended the season undefeated and untied. Rickey Kelvington was undefeated, yet tied on two occasions. Runners-up were: Bane (103), Lattimore. (112), Briges: (1389- and Vecchio (165). In the WPIAL tournament only Frank Mosier won a first place as Kelvington and Phelan had to settle for second. Jack Phelan was the ‘‘Cinderella wrestler”’ of 1962. He was a last minute replacement for the regular 133 pounder. Through deter- mination and work he managed to battle his way to the WPIAL finals. Reserve Wrestling A competent Mr. Shook came to Trinity High School this year to share in the coach- ing duties. His reserve team compiled an impressive 7 and 3 record. Most of our reserves are Freshmen and Sophomores and often wrestle against Junior opponents. Prospects look good for the future wrest- ling teams.
