I N A philosopher recently stated that if we forget the past we are doomed to per- petual infancy. Wisdom and experience of the past cannot be ignored, it has to orm a major portion of our system of values. Today the words which dominantly ring in our ears are: react, refuse, resist, rebel. Frustration will bury us all unless we retain trust in the truth of the past and hope in the honesty of the present. St. Paul once wrote a letter of ope to the Romans, a people whose a e was similar to ours. They are my sentiments as we see the Class of 1970 leave Trinity High School. hink of God's mercy and worship, I beg you, in a way that is worthy of think- ing beings - Do not model yourselves on the behaviour of the world around you, but let your behaviour change, modeled by your new mind. This is the only way to discover the will of God and know what is good, what it is that God wants, what is the perfect thing to do. - I urge each one of you not to exaggerate his real importance - Do not let your love be a pretence f Love each other as much as brothers should, and have a profound respect for each other. - If you have hope, this will make you cheerful - Do not give up if trials come. Treat everyone with equal kindness, never repay evil with evil - Do all you can to live at peace with everyone. - Love is the one thing that cannot hurt your neighbor, that is why it is the answer to everty one of the commandments. If a person's faith is not strong enough, welcome im all the same therefore, you should make up your mind never to be the cause of your brother tripping or falling . . . Hold on to your be- lief, as between yourself and God - and consider the man fortunate who can make his decision without going against his conscience - the night is almost over, it will be daylight soon, let us arm ourselves and appear in the light.
