ONE OF TRINITT'S BEST . The l9slt'i-l9'lT edition of the Trinity basketball team, despite being handicapped by lack of height, produced one of the finest Trinity teams in recent years. When the call was issued for basketball, Coach john Tolan had fiye returning lettermen, Don Honner and lid Connors, guards: Bill lde and Rudy Salem, forwards: and jug Brennan, center. Tom Nlclluire, a Navy dischargee, who had won two varsity awards at Trinity before enter- ing service, helped to bolster the team. The squad was rounded out by ,lim Cosgrove, lfmo Haried and Ray Hartnett, who had moved up from last year's seconds. Charley Rush, a transfer student from Colman, S. ll., saw action after mid-year. Coach John Tolan deserves great praise for his work in his first year as basketball coach. He won the confidence and admiration of his team, the school and all Trinity boosters in this territory. Salem's dazzling floor work and shooting, especially on long shots, helped him to rack up 15 points. Top scoring honors for the night went to Delioster, Spent-er's fine center who made 21 points. Spencer opened fast and at one time had a l5-9 margin. 'Xt this point Salem and his mates took over and 'l'rinity led 28-22 at half time. The whole team in this game gave a brilliant exhibition of speed and shooting. Ul'TST.4.Yl1lJYC.' Billy lde, one of the eitfs hest forwards and high point man locally, was ehosen unanimously' by Coaehes, offieials and sports writers to the first all-eity team.
