IN DEDICATIUN The Senior Class of 1945 deems it a great honor to dedicate their Year Book to Father Richard Haney, whose spiritual gui- dance will have a lasting effect on each in- dividual. Our interests, spiritual or other- wise, have always been his interests, and he has spent himself wholly in our behalf. The numerous favors he has done for each of us, in all probability, will never be known, but those that are acknowledged are enough to make us use this small means to express our gratitude for the unselfish efforts of a man of God. In fulfilling the twofold position of Dean of Boys and AthleticDirector of T.H.S., Father Raney has accomplished a job that most men would have thought impossible. The highest tribute paid to a coach can truly be said of him--Father first looked after the welfare of the team, and then the winning of the game. Every senior, no matter what profession he pursues, will always remember and appre- ciate, more as each year passes, the great deal of good Father Haney has done for him, especially in helping him achieve his high- est goal, Heaven. In all sincerity we wish to thank you, Father, and may God be as gen- erous to you as you have been to us.

ETERNAL VIEIU-KNEE 'Eternal Vigilancen, the words which have been impressed more and more deeply in our hearts during the past year, is the theme for the 1945 Annual. A peace without vigilance, as the past has so often proved, is a short lived one. We must not have watchfulness merely on the part of nations, but also on the part of individuals. Without a keen realization of the importance of such a fact,we are in grave danger of having to stand by silently as our sons march off to fight a Third World War. However, each one must temper his action with the principles of justice and Chris- tian charity, just as he expects his country to do in her dealings with her neighbors. The peace with God which will grow in the hearts of men as a result of this policy cannot help but develop into a lasting peace among the peoples of the nations. It is our duty as the Catholic Youth of the world's most freedom loving country to see that the future is protected. We lack nothing in the way of preparedness, God has seen to that. The past is behind usg it is dead, but the task, which lies before us,is to fight the spirit of indifferentism so rampant in the world today.
