Helping Us Get Acquointed Orientation 1984 was a time for new students to catch a glimpse of Trinity before the college kicked into full gear. The theme was Seek the things above from Colossians 3:1. The goal was to introduce freshmen and transfer students to Trinity's way of life and to have some fun in Trinity's backyard - Chicago. The enthusiastic Orientation Committee worked hard to make the week flow smoothly. Overall, Orientation 1984 provided a good spring- board for students to enter the full college experience. For many students, college life means dorm life. Resident students are aided by resident directors and resident assistants. Working closely with the Dean of Students, RA,s and RD's help to make sure things run smoothly in the dorms. Planning activities, leading Bible studies, and making sure everyone's light bulbs are working are among their respon- sibilities. RA's and RD's are an essential ingredient of happy dorm life. Behind the Scenes The purpose of the Student Association, as stated in the student manual, is to honor the Lord Jesus Christ in the conduct of student activities and in the promotion of student life and interests. These objectives and the functions of Student Association are governed by a council made up of student officers, the Dean of Students, student development committees, and representatives of the student body. Student Assoc. and its sub- committees work hard to encourage and build a unified student body, which has as its foundation faith in God and belief in His Word. The Academic Affairs committee works with the faculty association on matters of grading, cur- riculum, etc . . . and arranges films and lectures to be presented on campus throughout the year. Stu- dent Activities committee plays a key part in get- ting students involved in intramurals, Chicago area activities and on-campus social activities such as dances and concerts. This year students were able to purchase pass cards which gave them easy ac- cess to most campus activities. Student Ministries is active in helping students become involved in Christian service through organizations such as PACE, Summer Missions, Pro-Life, and others.
