Informing Informing is the purpose of a college like Trinity. Informing takes place in the classrooms where we absorb academic knowledge. But informing also takes place in the world outside the classrooms, the world of people, of broken hearts, laugh- ing faces, of the ever-present squirrels beneath our trees, and the world crowned by a smoggy Chicago skyline. Every sight, sound, smell, taste, and feeling penetrates deep into us. Information is packed into our heads, and because Trinity is here to teach us, we are presented with academic knowledge, to use the best we know how. How well we retain that knowledge depends on our reasons for being here. Each changing person must decide what his immediate task is and how best to use what he learns to perform that task in his own unique way.
