Valedictorian: Barbie Carpenter This past year al Trinity has been one of tremendous learning and growth both for my classmates and myself. Academically, we've learned more than we've ever learned before. We've learned to think and to interrelate the things we’ve discussed in- side and outside of class. Socially, we've developed much stronger friendships. We’ve reached out to people of all different types. Because of the busy year, the time we had together was quality time. Spiritually, we've learned a lot about Cod and what He wants from us. C. T. Studd once said. If Jesus Christ be God and died for me. then no sacrifice is too great to be made for him. The greatest gift we can give to Him is ourselves, unmold- ed. and ready for Him to use. We've learned this year that life is most fulfilling when lived with Christ as head over all areas of our lives: academic, social, and spiritual. Salutatoriam Wendell Harry I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith: In the future there will be many more courses to run. and fights to fight: yet the one I have now completed, my high school experience, is the most unique. In this time I have grown to know Cod. learned of how to learn, and discovered the benefits of diligence. I have seen, acknowledged, and absorbed countless pearls of wisdom from a faculty super-saturated with Godly, intellectual, and wise people. The difference between these past four years of growth and the future ahead of me is that yesterday. I was being reared by these Godly and wise people: tomorrow, it is my responsiblity to become one. Note: Autumn Getz received recognition as salutatorian in both the awards assembly and during the graduation ceremony. In the final tabulation of grades, however. Wendell Harry’s grade point average was .005 points higher than Autumn's. Therefore, both Autumn and Wendell are worthy of scholastic recognition. 209

Good Citizenship Award Outstanding Teacher Award Michael Beidel The Outstanding Teacher Award is an award sponsored by Mr. Jim Collins. Each school in the Dallas area chose a teacher to represent their school for the local award. The teacher chosen must be dedicated to his work, able to motivate his students, and have a positive and lasting impact upon his students. The members of the National Honor Society selected Michael beidel as the Trinity recipient of this esteemed award. Mr. Beidel is a graduate of the University of Texas, where he received two degrees in mathematics. He has taught at the University of Texas at Dallas graduate school and also in the Austin school district. Before coming to Trinity nine years ago. Mr. Beidel taught math at the St. Marks school of Dallas. For three years Mr. Beidel taught math at Trinity, and in 1979 was made headmaster. At the present time, he also teaches calculus and coaches jr. high tennis. Mr. Beidel is married and has four daughters, all of whom at- tend Trinity. He is very active in school activities, attending every football and basketball game, accompanying the eighth grade on the wilderness trip, and leading singing every morning in chapel. Mr. Beidel's love for Trinity and all its students is evident in his attitude toward his job. Though his schedule is a busy one. he takes time to meet with students for Bible studies or just to talk. His willingness to help any student academically or spiritually never ceases. Mr. Beidel is certainly an outstanding teacher and well deserving of this award. Stan Potocki This year’s recipient of the D.A.R. Citizenship Award is Stan F’otocki. Stan was chosen by the administration to represent Trinity in the national competition due to his outstanding character. Stan is a hard worker, both in school and in extra- curricular activities. He is a leader and also a servant, as is evi- dent through his position as senior class president. His moral strength and commitment to Christian principles make Stan an example for others to follow. He is truly a good citizen. 211
