Junior High Volleyball Another Successful Season The 1985 Junior High Volleyball Team had a very- successful and exciting year. Both A and B teams went undefeated in regular season play. Thirty-nine girls were out for volleyball and all displayed tremen- dous effort, determination, and enthusiasm throughout the season which was key to their many victories. The A team was (13-2) for the year and received the second place trophy at both the Coppell and Trinity tour- naments. The B team was (9-1) and they received the consolation trophy at the Coppell tournament. Con- gratulations girls for an outstanding season! Coach Sue Morrill First Row: Amy Waddell. Leslie Cotter. CHRISTI Coach Parker tells the game plan. 147 Paige Nicholson makes a good shot. A Unified Force The Trojans are ready. The 1985 Varsity Volleyball Team led by the experience and leadership of seniors Allyson Avinger and Kelly Frazier worked hard and effectively to finish the season on a positive note. The team’s good attitude and willingness to bond together built a special unity that became evident throughout the season. Although the season record was not our best, the girls played extremely well in district play often falling short in the end. The youthfulness and rebuilding of the team was a factor in the lack of con- fidence and consistency. Once the team’s confidence became more evident, the girls’ consistency level started to rise. Their improvement warranted many praises and compliments from opposing coaches concerning the team’s progres- sing ability. These three team members were awarded honors for their ability: Paige Nicholson — first team. Allyson Avinger — second team, and Denise Ramirez — honorable mention. Coach Martha Parker

Darren Crosbie, Carlos Giron Trojans Run to Victory Cross Country begins each year in the heat of August as we push ourselves to firepare for the hills and crowds of our irst meet at Fort Worth Country Day. Pleased but not satisfied with our pro- gress we went back to work. David Fan- drich. Doug Heyer, Candice Crawford, and Jenny Kaspareit worked very hard and improved their times by the next meet hosted by Jesuit at Norbuck Park. Rachel Deffinbaugh was the only one to improve for the St. Mark’s meet the following week at Norbuck. But we were encouraged by Paige Satterfield and Amy Seely joining the team. After a dual meet with Greenliill boys and Hockaday at Brookhaven, we set our sights on the Taps State meet in Waco on November 9. We were ecstatic to finish state runner- up champions in both divisions, led by our most valuable runners Eddie Camp- bell and Kim Goodrich. Coach Bill Bradley Wendell and David give i( their all. Kim Goodrich takes the lead. Go for it. Darren! 149
