Dialogue Poetry by Beth Werner Photography by Clifton DeWitt “Batter My Heart— ” Batter, break, be rough with me — The time is coming; it’s not yet here, When I’ll say those words to Thee. Step by step Thou drawest me near. Time and again I turn to You. But those words, so crucial, so hard — My heart will not release ’til what I speak is true. And, meanwhile, running, my heart is marred By thoughts which have no place In You. By You I am assured I’ll see Your face, for, by Your grace You’ve taken my place; it’s in Your Word. In this one thought I rest my faith: You, Lord, have promised to keep me safe. Beth Werner “Could you count all the books you’ve read?” “No — that would be like counting the stars — but it sure is fun to try! “Why am I so complex? Why do I have so many questions and answers that only partially satisfy me?” Because you are made in the image of a Greater Being, and. until meeting that One, will not even be fully able to understand yourself. “Why do people call me wise? old for my age?” Because you are not afraid to think and learn from other’s pasts. “What makes me me? Many things; above all, God. “Thank you.” You’re quite welcome. “Can I live with you, God?” Are you not afraid? “Yes, I am; but not uncertain.” Then come, and follow me. Beth W’erner

The Dreamer' Secreta In The Wind” Still, silence captivates all; Nothing dare interrupt its beautiful prison; A time for dreaming amongst his former fathers; A way to sense nature’s melancholy tone. There ... sits the dreamer. Resting all hope on Dover Beach. Reality is only one setp away, yet only the dreamer may grasp its world. New life and meaning await him; Can’t you hear His call? The dreamer’s prison holds him firm — Its silence lingers onward. As the sea hopes in vain to end its eternal conflict, The dreamer sits wanting life to open without His key. A friend to meet; this friend called death waits for dreamer to be with him forever. Like a pit this silence holds him from the two escapes — A longing need to end his vain endeavor. The Wind draws near and listens to the dreamer’s silent prison. Love and Peace are in the air. The dreamer now has risen! Ron W. Hill Photography by Stephanie Boyd. How high can you fly?
