THORNTON TRINIDAD OAKWOOD TRINIDAD MT. CALM TRINIDAD VENUS TRINIDAD PENELOPE TRINIDAD NORTH ZULCH TRINIDAD MT. CALM TRINIDAD VENUS TRINIDAD PENELOPE TRINIDAD JEWETT-MARQ UEY TRINIDAD Trojan Write-Up The Trojans opened the '58 season at home against the Thornton Tigers. The Trojan defense held good against the powerful Tigers but the offense could never get moving. All the points were scored in the first half of play. The next week found the Trojans still at home against the Oakwood Panthers The Panthers had no better luck in getting started than did the Trojans and the game ended in a 6 - 6 tie. The only tie by a Trojan six-man team. The Trojans first venture from home was a sad affair. The Trojans never could get moving and the Panthers made it rough for them. After two losses, one tie and no wins, coach said things would get rough if we didn't pick up. The pick up started at home against the Venus Bulldogs. The offense was better and the defense was great. The fact that Venus thought they would win the game easily helped the Trojan cause. The next week was homecoming and the Trojan's kept things rolling by defeating the Penelope Wolverines. Before the game Miss Trojan was crowned by the co-captains, Keith Johnston and Tommy Stanfield. The next week found the Trojans still at home against the undefeated North Zulch team. The Trojans quickly killed their record by scoring 32 points in the first half. The Mt. Calm Panthers came to Trinidad and the Trojans were determined to even the score. The game see-sawed back and forth but the Panther superior manpower won over the lighter Trojans. The next week found the Trojans on the road to Venus. The Bulldogs were after the Trojans' hide after the defeat pined on them at Trinidad. They did a pretty good job of it with a great deal of help from the Trojans themselves. The Trojans got back on the right trail the next week against Penelope. While they evened their record for the year the Trojans used everyone on the bench and looked like the team of two weeks before. The Trojans closed the '58 season with a defeat at the hands of the Jewett- Marquey Coagars. This was a non-district game to Fill in for Palmer which dropped out of the district. The '58 season was not as successful as the boys and coach had hoped but then very few are. On the bright side returning from this team that finished second in district there will be nine lettermen and five starters. The team lost only one man through graduation. We are looking forward to o great season next year. And we hope that the next season will be as successful and maybe more than the previous one.
