Tri-State had much to be proud of with the Cross Country team this year. The team, coached by Richard Gollnick, had a perfect 7-O record and went all the way to win an easy victory in the N.A.l.A. Dis- trict 2l State championship. Outstand- ing runners were senior Greg Johnson and juniors Jeff Lauber and Dexter Leh- man. Other victories by the harriers were winning the Mid-Central Conference, for the fourth consecutive year, and placing in the top ten of the N.C.A.A. District Ill National Championship. ln addition, they won numerous invitationals against stun- ning colleges like Malone and Cedarville who were ranked 4th and 5th in the nation, respectively. Coach Gollnick was named Coach of the year in the N.A.l.A. District 21 State Finals for the team's outstanding effort and also the Mid-Cen- tral Conference Co-Coach of the year with the coach of Goshen College. 2 Cross Country 'Q

Neffers Have Perfeof Season First-year coach .lim Slayton did a very outstanding job in coaching the tennis team to a perfect 6-O record this year. Defeating Grace, the defending MCC champion, in the regular season, the team had a shot for winning the IVICC crown for themselves. They went on with easy victories over the other conference teams, and eventually did become the conference champions. Undefeated sin- gles players were Jim Wiseman and Stan Kinnett. Undefeated doubles players were Anthony Bal with Bruce Hackney and Wiseman with Kinnett. The team also became the conference tourney champions with Wiseman, Kin- nett and Vorndran being singles winners and Wiseman with Kinnett and Vorndran with Nlushett winning in doubles. In state competition Anthony Bal and Bruce Hackney were the doubles cham- pions, and went on to national competi- tion. In addition they were chosen to be on the All-State tennis team. Bal was also third in singles at state.
