QUINTIN HAWTHORNE Chairman of Department DEPARTMENT OF AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING The primary objective of the courses in Aeronautical Engineer- ing is to provide sound trainings in the fundamentals and also familiarize the student with the principles of flight and the design and constructon of aircraft, The department was started in 1931 and has kept pace with the growth of the aircraft industry. A modern wind tunnel gives the student a chance to apply classroom theory to prac- tical problems in the construction of aircraft.
