LEU bim DONAHUE ■e ms. ' M • ? Bulr Kulia Li«k Ccta, PKk-lUriod KSi ibrct Twisty Ww»- My lunch hour varied from ten till four, A sandwich with indigestion and work some more Twelve to one found me in Mechanism I always left there with worry-ism Holcomb said, Now get this straight, If you don’t learn this, you’ll meet your fate, Again at two, I was on the go To Oleson’s class, the so and so, Boys tomorrow, he’d say with glee, A full hours test in Mechanics Three Labs, a must, in every quarter, A living proof I was a martyr. The blood to sweat on those machines, Reports to prove that I had been. The teachers, the classes, the writers cramp, Deciphering files by the mid-night lamp. The dear Father Himself did scratch His head, Over some of the problems Mr. Humphries to us fed, I couldn’t keep up with Andolina, In Machine Design, was anyone keener? Some profs were omitted for lack of space. But all bull sessions showed few in grace, At every dinner my wife disclosed Hamburger dishes as cold as my toes, And coffee strong enough to send All my hair to stand on end. The evening descended all too soon There I’d sit in the smoke filled room. Bent over my desk and hoped to strive For answers to problems before morning arrivei And so, St. Peter, you have my story, Now I’ve come to claim my glory, St. Peter smiled and rang the bell Come in son, you’ve been to H—. • $ mmSk in w- m sen w

M Engineers jCament The time had come to take the toll Of an engineer’s reckoning on St. Peter ' s scroll, St. Peter paused and looked again, “Oh No, said he, not another Tri-State man!’ Come on son, now take your turn, Your deeds of the past I must learn. The more recent records did say, That I have certainly had my day. Let’s not forget how I did strive In the drafty house on Victory Drive, Each stress and strain I had to bear Are carefully recorded for all to hear, It was a rough and weary grind Of the life in Angola which I left behind. The nights were short and the days so long. Nothing went right, evreything wrong-- The summers were hot, the winters bleak. The bills kept piling at my feet, My rent was paid until last fall, But water was free with rust and all. They raised the tuition and changed the books, They bled me my money those learned crooks! The alarm went off with the rise of sun. My 20 hour day had just begun, Sipped some coffee and grabbed my books, A glance in the mirror to check my looks. The reflection there was no surprise, I was always there with bleary eyes. A skip and a hop, I was off on time Made it to Steam right at, nine. Couldn ' t be late, couldn’t be slow, Hemmert’s glare was a deadly blow. Next in line was Strength at ten, I didn ' t have the strength to lift my pen, Byers the teacher, was often on a rage. Each day’s assignment, 3 chapters to the page
