' Department Of Commerce Harold R. Hoolihan Wayne Champion Robert Cook Ronald Pufahl Head of Department The work in the Department of Commerce is designed to qualify the student for one of the many responsible positions in the field of modern business. The course is so outlined that the first four terms are devoted to general foundation courses of accounting, business law, economics and finance. These courses are followed by more specialized instructions in the fields of ad¬ vertising, credit, purchasing, selling and transportation. A twelve-term course in administrative engineering is also included in the department ' s curriculum. There was a time when business executives felt that it was not necessary for men entering the field of business to possess a formal education. There grows today, however, an ever in¬ creasing demand for college graduates with a foundation of general business elements to fill vacancies for responsible positions. It is an accepted fact t hat formal instructions will shorten apprenticeship necessary to fill these positions. COMMERCIAL LABORATORIES
