' I TO THE GRADUATES OF 1954-SS: It Was once stated in substance that one should make no little plans but should think big. When Daniel Burnham, a great Chicago architect, made this statement as a part of the expression of his hopes and ambitions for the future develop- ment of his city I am confident he did not have in mind either you or me or our college. The soundness of this advice, even though unquestioned when given, is now strengthened and supported on every hand. Who could accept and follow it more appropriately than an col- lege graduate-a person Who, by seeking further education, has already thought big and made no little plans. As you cross the threshold of graduation you will have achieved the realization of your first big plans. Now it is time to start over and make no little plans but think big again.
