Great governments have come and goneg great empires have risen to sublime heights and then fallen into oblivion only because the citizenry could not assume the responsibility placed upon it. Today we are living in an age of science. Some would have us believe that our obligation to society can be fulfilled through scientific methods. You who are going out into the world of competition have been trained to apply sound logic to the solution of all problems, and you must assume the responsibility and accept the obligation of trying to make this country the guiding light of the world in this hour of dark- ness. You are challenged to contribute your efforts and talents to the preservation of democracy for free people by applying your knowledge and training in whatever field of service you are called upon to direct we wish for the members of the graduating class of l9b9 all of the success that it is humanly possible to attain.
