THIRTY YEARS OF PROGRESS The first Vocational School for high school students was organized in January, 1925. Its first home was in the old Fourth Ward Building which was located where the Central Fire Hall now stands, at Texas and Cherry Streets. The Fort Worth Rotary Club saw the need for such a school, and through a committee headed by K. Roby, a consulting engineer, now deceased, a survey was made, and it was on the findings of this committee that the Board of Edu- cation took action. ln 1930 his land was sold to the City for the Central Fire Station location and the school was moved to the old Ninth Ward Building at 540 Grant Street, which is located one block east of Samuels Avenue and which is near the present Charles E. Nash elementary school. The school remained at this location until June, 1937 when it was moved to our present location at 600 Park Street. From 1925 to 1937 the school was for boys, but with the move in 1937 to our present location it was made co-edu- cational. The first enrollment in 1925 was 48 boys, one class of 16 each in Printing, Automobile Mechanics and Machine Shop Practice. When the 1937 move was made the school had an enrollment of 186 boys. ln the fall of 1937, 360 boys and girls enrolled in the pres- ent Technical High School and the enrollment has increas- ed each year with more than 1600 enrolling in September 1 954.
