Looking through the files of the secretary we found the following things of importance during the school term of 1939f'4O: September 2OfThe first meeting was held under the leadership of Miss Henson. October 3-Oiiicers were elected. President, john D. Minton, Vice President, Virginia Hughes, Secre - tary, Allene Bridges, Treasurer, Lucille Francis, Program Chairman, Katherine Shelton. October 23-The Beta Club initiated the new mem' bers in a Chapel program with the students and -faculty as an audience. February 8-An Amateurcontest with thirty parf ticipants was sponsored by the club. February 23-The National Beta Club State Cone V vention was held in Lexington, Ky, Trigg County High Beta Club furnished a speaker, Francis Street, to make a toast to the boys at the banquet. Others who attended the convention were: -Jean White, Pollie Small, Ben White, and Miss Frances Henson. A AprilfThe Beta Club picture appeared in the Beta Club journal.
