CLASS PROPHECY IVhe'n I dept into the future far as human eye could seep Saw the 'vision of the world and all the wonder that would befp' As Tennyson once said, so did I when I peered into my crystal globe. I took it in my hand and gazedinto its depths until like magic I saw a ship, a huge vessel, launched. John D. Minton was captain giving orders to his crew. This liner was skillfully. sterred by the helmsman, Thomas Myers, with the assistance of the engineers, Robert Belshe and R. H. Upton, Jr. The deck was filled with passengers among whom I saw james Larkins, the world's greatest orator and his wife, formally Ann Alexander. The hostess of this liner, Frances Hardy was cheerfully entertaining Ken' tucky's poet laureate, Allene Bridges and the famousartists, Homer Parrent, Virginia Hughes and Sarah Frances Jones. I saw employed in the educational department, Gertrude Blanks and Ernestene Meador as Home Economics teachers, along with Jean Light, Mamie Boatwright and Jean Bannister as waitresses. In the commercial department were the fastest typists, Lurlene Aldridge, Elizabeth Nunn, Barbara Thomas, Francis Harrell, Bessie Reddick, Thelma Guthrie, Hettie Adams and Lurlene Newton with their instructor, Aubrey Woodruff: Next I saw the librarian, Helen Childress, distributing agriculture yearbooks to Jess Vinson, Marvin Broad- bent, Jr., Layton Tuggle, William Cherry, MauricelFutrell, William Harrell, Clarence Thomas and Douglas Mize, professional farmers. I turned my globe around. Then I saw a form dressed in white who happened to be Ben White the world's most famous -surgeon. I saw nurses there also, among whom were Katherine Shelton, Ella Mae Turner, Dar' danella Reddick, Thelma Thomas, Ida McKinney, Katherine Powell and Elizabeth Stevens. Turning my globe again I looked upon the shops brilliantly lighted. One I remember was a beauty shoppe with Mary Lee Whitney and Juanita Clark, as operators. I also saw the stenographers, Gladys Finnel, Jean Martin, Maxine Chambers, julia Light and Blanche Wilson working in the television department. Then I saw the Theatre, owned by Reed Williams, The play I remember was Macbeth, When the curtain rose, to my delight the actors were Audra Cunningham and Duncan Rose playing the roles of Lady Macbeth and Macbeth. Then out on the stage came Chappell Aldridge, the comedian in the role of the King's fool. The music staff of this theatre consisted of the renowned pianists, Barbara Bridges and Virginia Guier with Merry Hayes as soloist. Among those vacationing I recognized the following of the Trigg County High Faculty, Smith Simmons, Virginia Wallace, James Stewart, Marshall Cooper and Virginia Dare Thomas. I also saw the two great scientists, Ed Street and Trimble Major. I was delighted by the swimming race between the strongest athletes, E, F. Goodwin, William McCoy, John Myers and Hezzie Turner. Those enjoying these sports were: Bess world's best known horse trainer and Frances Long, the song composer. Then as quickly as it came the vision vanished and I, puzzled and astonished, was gazing into emptiness. Lgcrrts FRANCIS .,-.. , Page Twenty-one
