-1--11--1--1211-11----1-111----1 n sfo Lass HI TORY Ii: September, 1918, the class of '22 first invaded the hall of Tria- c!e'phia District High School, then situated at Edgington Lane, Since then we have kept up the conquest, and at last, having secured the war prize fsheepskinj have quit the struggle, and are looking for- ward to greater conquests. VVe were Freshmen! Our traditional fears were not allievated by the Sophs, who were the chief cause of our troubles. They and other upper classmen terrified us by their cold looks and awed us by their display of superior wisdom. The instructors did not decrease our timidity efther, They seemed like monsters to us. and many times did we fear being devoured by them. Soon after we had gotten settled, the doubtless braves of our num- ber ran the gauntlet of paddles while sympathetic damsels looked on. After such a reception we felt truly initiated into high school life. The Freshmen class meeting was anticipated with great eagerness. After much discussion and argument, we finally decided to entrust our leadership to lidward Flaccus, who has since left school. Under his z-dministration no serious conflicts were encounteredg in fact, as a whole we were as peaceful as could be expected-for Freshmen! Our first year's work was interrupted by the flu But after sever- al weeks the flu flew away and we flew back to our beloved studies. In February of our Freshmen year, we occupied our 1ong-dreamed- of new building, As we stood in wonderment at the magnificance of that white brick palace, we were bowed down in awe and marveled that we should ever have the opportunity to stand within those stately portals. But there was one strange occurrence in this new building which we had some difficulty in understanding. Every time the period l.-ell rang, it sounded just like it had sounded the last time, and we wondered at the wisdom of the members of the other classes because they knew just when to pop out of their seats and go hence! Our first venture into athletics was very successful, Howard Friederichs was on the football squad. By the time we were Sophs, the greenness had somewhat faded away, and we were beginning to adorn the Flower of Learniiq, We could now be looked upon as bright, intelligent and above all am- lsitious--fambitious to be of still greater importance t?j. Several of our members were added to basketball and football fame. We elected Louis VX'aterhouse, as our chief and as a whole had a very uneventful year. Finally we emerged as Noble juniors! Miss Morgan, our class advisor at that time, can vouch for our nobleness, Qwe're too modest, I , 111111.....-11..111..-1111,,11,1......1-H. n ,, ,, ,,
