Text from Pages 1 - 104 of the 1964 volume:

URSA MAGNA ’64 MEMORIAM The Class of 1964 dedicates this yearbook to the memory of Charles Grey, beloved classmate and friend. Charlie'’ will al- ways be remembered with deep affection. Dear Graduates, The Class of '64 will soon become a part of the history of Tri-Valley. To all of you we extend our best wishes for success in the several fields you have chosen. The de- parture of this class will have a very special meaning, since most of you have spent your entire educational life in this building. You have seen Tri-Valley grow from a small school to a flourishing establishment. Your class has made many contributions to this growth. Our hopes are embodied in your acceptance of the new roles waiting for you. All of the time and effort expended here will mean little unless you have acquired a set of ideals and objectives which impel you to continue to seek, to strive, and to serve. As you fol- low your separate ways, we sincerely hope that Tri Valley will always have a special place and meaning for you. We will always remember you with a special affection. Best wishes for the future and may God bless you. Cordially, Edward T. Condon Supervising Principal MR. Blankenship SPORTS The great success of Tri Valley's 1963 football squad was attained by the hard work and desire of many determined players. The action pictures displayed on the previous pages give examples of the Bears’ excellent squad. Elusive backs Dick Bidlack and Eric Bernstein broke away frequently for exciting touchdowns due to the fine blocking of half-back Doug Coddington and line- men John McKenna, Bob Curry. John Bertholf, Steve Johnson and George Nash. Slightly less prominent figures were backs Bert Kennedy. Tiny Gentes, and Herb Mullinex; and lineman Paul Lagueux and Dick Robinson. Having lost only two starters. Coach Hall is looking forward to watching the Bears better last year's second-place finish. TRACK Coach Hall's newly - formed track team indicated the bright future of track at TVS. Tiny Gentes, Ed Antoni, and the freshman relay broke league records during the 1963 season. Trackmen returning are determined to make Tri- Valley as prominent in track in the Western Sullivan League as in football, baseball, and basketball. BASKETBALL The Varsity got off to a slow start this year, but posed a constant menace to the league leaders as several,of their victories were over top-ranking teams. George Nash (second high scorer in the league) and Dick Dickerman led the scoring parade, followed closely by playmaker Raymond Goode. Two other seniors seeing a lot of action were Bert Kennedy and Joe Rubenzahl. Dick Bidlack and Steve Johnson proved strong rebounders as they gained a great deal of game experience. The Bears should be in the thick of the fight next year with the return of Nash. Bidlack, and Johnson. Tiny Gentes. Jim Wilkerson, Doug Coddington, Gary Parrow and Ty Gray all saw action this year and will be competing for first team berths. Up from the J. V. will be Will Rianhard, Pete Curry, Greg Parrow, and Bob Krom. J. V. The young J. V. team didn't win too many games this year but fans are optimistic as several freshmen showed promise as they gained a great deal of game experience. BASEBALL We at Ursa Magna regret that this book is unable to include the 1964 Base- ball year. However, this is a place of recognition of the 1963 season and a prediction of great things to come in 1964. Chuck O’Brien and Dick Dicker man, as seniors, are expected to lead the team to many victories. - a x n o n BOOSTERS Roxy Barber Shop Mr. Latteri Meadows Dairy Dean Phipps Stores Mr. and Mrs. Harold A. Among the more important things we are leaving behind are the sweat, toil, and trouble of trying to put together a year- book; our ability to conquer our studies; our excellent con- tribution to sports and music; our tremendous acting ability; and, more seriously, our spirit for our Alma Mater. In general, we would like to leave to all who follow in our path, a feeling of respect and pride in Tri Valley Central School. Compliments of M-K TELEVISION LIBERTY G.L.F. G. E.
