Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School Franklin, Massachusetts Pride has been defined as satisfaction in one's achievements or ownership and suggests synonyms such as dignity and self-respect. Although we have had in the past and will have in the future many opportunities to be Proud, there are few occasions when that special feeling is stronger than it is on your day of High School Graduation. Some will enjoy other graduations as time goes by but that satisfaction of accomplishment that you feel now may never be greater because this is that special time when you enter into adulthood after having completed all necessary preparation. The ownership of your diploma, visible evidence of your success, will contribute to that sense of self-satisfaction. But Pride and the excitement that is part of being Proud at this time is not an automatic happening. In fact it happens, to a greater or lesser extent, only in relationship to your own concept of self-worth. The essence of the ultimate Pride is self-respect. To the extent that you have self-respect you are more likely to respect all with whom you relate to and you can be assured that they will respect you in return. So go for it, it is simple, it is easy, and yet it will undoubtedly be your most important asset - Pride.
