Honeyeutt THE SEASON The inexperienced but determined Black Panthers met Gastonia, a strong AAA team, in their iirst game. After a srforeless first half. they were over- come in the second hy 20 to 0. This proved to be the pattern for the sea- son. In their second game, the Panth- ers absorbed their worst licking ot' the year from Martinsville, The next Week the Panthers played perhaps their best game befoie going down to Reidsville, state AA ehamps. 19-0. and in their next game rolled over Walk- ertown 21-O. Sueeessive defeats were suffereci at the hands of Lexington. Gray, Mount Airy, and Mineral Springs, Then, in the final game ot' the season against Hanes, aided by H. C. Paces end art-und run in the dying seconds and followed up by Pete Griggs' third touchdown ot' the night, the Panthers ground out a re- spectable end to a losing season hy winning 19-13.
