The DARDA is Trevecca . . . it is you. Its pages carry much more than the pictorial representation of your year at T.N.C. Listen carefully. The noise from the football field drifts across campus . . . the sound of a class in session and a professor lecturing . . . the busy chatter in a dorm . . . joyous praises lifted by a choir in an inspiring chapel service-these are Trevecca and they almost echo from the pages. With the sincere hope that we have so recorded the feelings of today that such vivid memories may be recalled tomorrow, the stalf presents the nineteen hundred and sixty-five edition of the DARDA. CATHY CHILTON, Editor 3

TREVECKA-1768 455' ' ' -Pak. , . wx- . - 5,- .. x-'cj V ' ' 1-s The heritage of Trevecca Nazarene'College-dates back to Wales in 1768 when six students were expelled' from Oxford University for participating in religious .prac- tices. Lady Huntington, being a religious zperson, began. to take definite steps toward a plan which she had been contemplating for some time. She established a college for the purpose of training -young ministers. Rev. J. O. McClurkan, greatly impressed with the need for trained ministers and with the leadership of God, formally opened the doors of Trevecca to students in 1901. Like Lady Huntington, the foundation of plan- ning and prayer had been laid years before his dream became a reality. Impressed by the emphasis of Lady Huntington's school, he chose the name Trevecca and Opened the school with the objective of training missionaries and Christian workers. It was then a distinct Bible training school. The College was engaged in various relocations dur- ing its establishing years: one of these being the move in 1913 to the Gallatin Road location. Growth necessi- tated the change. 'I'he campus was locatedlon the Warner Estate 'with a colonial mansion as its main building. In 1935, Dr. Hardy leased the property at the present site, and the school purchased it three years later through the negotiations of Dr. Mackey. From the be- ginning the school fwas known for its success in scat- tering the Gospel over the U.S. and to foreign lands. Though there were problems, financial and other- wise, there remained a strong faith. The Lord was smil- ing upon our leaders, and they were looking forward to bigger and better things.
