DR. A. B. MACKEY, President of the College THE PRESIDENT ' S MESSAGE The wisest thing in the world is the search for wisdom. It has been said that wisdom is the right use of knowledge; it might well be said that wis dom is the right use of any good thing whether it be knowledge, skill, wealth, talent or time. Solomon was called a wise man because he did not ask God for wealth nor for the destruction of his enemies but for wis- dom to rule his people. Because he did not ask for those minor things, the Lord gave them to him. The twin sister to wisdom is worship, and true worship is the worship of the true and living God. Worship is the recognizing of a true evaluation. Worship should be a chang- ing something — it should develop as we become wise enough to recognize more and more the true worth of godliness and righteousness. Trevecca Nazarene College should seek to develop a greater and greater appreciation for the value of true worship; not necessarily the special times of worship, but a worshipful prayer that never ceases. This annual should be a representation of the togetherness which characterizes the highest type of education. Education is not an individualistic affair; it must be a group enterprise. The Bible teaches that two working together can put to flight ten times as many as one working alone. The cooperative pro- gram in school should be the beginning of a cooperative program which should extend throughout our lives and to the ends of the earth. Wisdom, worship and togetherness will bring daily triumph to the participants and a final triumphant entry into an eternity of peace and happiness. A. B. MACKEY, President

THE MACKEY STORY Wisdom garnered from more than forty years of teaching and administration and from the workings of an agile mind has been a treasure that President A. B. Mackey has shared in countless ways with the students who have come within the portals of Trevecca. The seeds of success were planted when as elementary teacher, high school teacher, principal, college instructor, dean, and college vice-president he formed an acquaintance with the many aspects of education. Added to this were college and graduate work in economics, educa- tional psychology, and educational administration beyond that usually required for a doctor ' s degree. This experience gave valuable training for the immeasurable service he has rendered to the cause of Christian education. Worship of God, he has taught us, by both precept and example, must include a life of maximum service. The sense of mission and devotion to a cause so desperately needed in the troubled world has certainly been exemplified by this good man. Education for some purpose has been his goal. Holiness educational evangelism is his phrase to picture what Trevecca is emphasizing in order to enlarge the bounds of the Kingdom and cope with the problems of our civiliration. Triumph has been his, but only after years of sacrifice to perpetuate a college being tried in the crucible of adversity. The day has come when, under his guidance, Trevecca Naz- arene College has achieved an enviable standing in the edu- cational world with a campus valued at one and a half million dollars. These resources, together with the staff he has selected, send forth Nazarene youth in ever-increasing num- bers to lead satisfying and useful lives. President and Mrs. A. B. Mackey and their nephew, Gene Dalton Togetherness implies a close relationship between pres- ident and students possible only in a college the size of Trevecca. The weekly chapel messages, the willing counsel, and the frequent associations make possible a sharing of the thought and spirit of our president which has value beyond calculation. To you, Dr. Mackey, we of the Trevecca family wish to express our deep appreciation for your rich contribu- tion to our college and pledge ourselves to be indeed sons and daughters she ' ll be proud of. Your influence has strengthened such an aspiration.
