T he Freshman Class OFFICERS Wendell Shirley President Dwayne Little Treasurer Gene Cook Vice-President Hugh Smith Student Council Representative Joy Turney Secretary Barraka Sumners Reporter Mr. Chambers Sponsor A whole new world opened up to us as we arrived at Trevecca. The things that, even a few short months ago. seemed so important to us. faded from sighl as higher ideals hecame our goals. During Orientation Week we had the campus to ourselves for several days before the Upperclassmen arrived. There was not an idle moment, however; entrance exams, registration, rules and regulations cluttered our few days of freedom before classes actually began. Orientation wasn ' t all administrative, thanks to the Sophomores. For a week our big brothers and sisters welcomed us into the whirl of college life. Our circle of friends increased as we came to know and love our fellow classmates. Our scope of understanding eidarged as we sat in classrooms awed at the boundless expanse of knowledge our professor seemed to possess. Our consecration be- came more complete as we reverently stood in Chap- el and God ' s spirit filled our hearts to overflowing. What a way to get acquainted! Freshmen thespians Christmas Carolers

Entrance Exams Come First Through the Registration Maze Orientation The Orientation Week for Freshmen was a historic first in 1958. Its success will no doubt encourage its repetition in future years. The Freshmen arrived a week before classes began but found a detailed get-acquainted program awaiting them. Placemen! testing, educational counseling, and campus in- formation forums helped them to quickly find their place in the life of the college. After a week of this program these veterans welcomed the upperclassmen to the campus. The lighter side of the orientation program was sponsored by the Sophomores. Parties, song fests, special programs, and an all-college prayer meeting were all designed to make tin newest and largest class at T.N.C. quickly feel a part of the group.
