Gulf Compan First Sergeant Prendergast was born November 22, 1954 in Bellevue, Ohio. He is a graduate of St. Peter's High School in Mansfield, Ohio. After graduating in 1973, First Sergeant Prendergast enlisted in the Marine Corps and reported to MCRD Parris Island in December of 1973 for recruit training. Upon completion of recruit training, First Sergeant Prendergast was named Platoon Honor Man and meritoriously promoted to Private First Class. PFC Prendergast traveled to MCRD San Diego, Operators School. In june, 1974, Prendergast reported to the 4th Marines 3rd Marine an 18 month tour. During this time Prendergast was meritoriously promoted to Lance He participated in operation Frequent Wind during the evacuation of Saigon, SGT Prendergast reported to MSG duty where he served at posts in Damascus, Syria 1978, Staff Sergeant Prendergast reported to 5th Battalion, 10th Marines for two 6th Marines for two years. He left Camp Lejeune in 1982 for duty as a Drill the rank of GySgt and upon tour completion at Parris Island he reported to 3rd tour with 7th Com- munications Battalion. In 1986, GySgt PrendergfasfgplggportedifoDivisiorggeadquarters 2nd Marine Division for duty in the Division Comm Office.In 1987 Prendergast was as the Communication Monitor at I-IQMC. While at HQMC Prendergast rank of Master Sergeant. Upon Submission of request to be redesignated the request and received orders to MCSF Co, Keflavik, Iceland. 1stSgt Prendergast f1'0rI1 February 1990 to February 1991 and then proceeded to 2nd Marine 3rd Battalligjinzq-8th Marines. 1stSgt Prendergast did a Med float in 1991 and upon return received ofdersito duty station, Golf Company 2nd Battalion 2nd 1stSgt Prendergast's decorations include: Navy Comrfiecndation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and Combat Action. 1stSgt Prendergast is married to the former Miss Karen Clark who is an active duty Navy Chief stationed in Keflavik, Iceland.
