JAM. COMMANDING OFFICER Captain Elmore K. Hannah, Jr., U.S. Navy, is a native of Erin, Tennessee and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1956. He was a member of the Officer Candidate School, Class 30, graduating and receiving his commission on 1 March 1957, augmenting to the regular Navy in 1959. Captain Hannah's sea tours include USS TRATHEN CDD- 530J, where he served as CIC and later Operations Officer: USS VOGE CFF-10473 as Commissioning Executive Officer in November of 1966: USS RICHARD S. EDWARDS CDD-9505 as Engineering Officer: USS NEW JERSEY CBB-625, as Operations Officer: USS DALE CCG-197 as Executive Officer: and, USS KOELSCH CFF-10491, where Captain Hannah served as Commanding Officer from February 1974 until February 1976. Captain Hannah's shore and staff tours include Staff, Commander Cruiser-Destroyer Force, Pacific as Scheduling Officer and Current Operations Officer: the bureau of Naval Personnel: Office of the Chief of Naval Operations COP-603: Naval War College: College of Naval warfare: and the Organization of the Joint Chiefs Of Staff, J-5, where he served as Chief, European Plans and Forces Branch, European Div. Captain Hannah assumed command of the USS TRENTON, on 8 July 1980. He is married to the former Barbara Mastriano of Barrington, Rhode Island.

USS TRENTCDN CLPD-14 Today's TRENTON: the keel laid on 8 August 1966, was christened TRENTON and launched on 3 August 1968 by Mrs. Richard J. Hughes, wife of then governor of New Jersey. As an amphibious transport dock, CLPDJ it is a unit of the most versitile class of amphibious assault ships. By combining the troop carrying capability of the LPA, the floodable well deck of the LSD, and the and helicopter operating deck of the LPH, TRENTON maintains in one ship an integrated and balanced landing force. Trenton, therefore, provides fast transport of troops and their combat equipment and can rapidly land them ashore by vertical envelopment and boat waves. Lieberman graduated from the United States Naval Academy and was commissioned in 1969. After commissioning he attended Post Graduate School and received his MS in Financial Management. ln 1979 LCDR Lieberman reported to USS NEWMAN K PERRY CDD-8833 as Electronics Material Officer. In 1972 he attended Destroyer School and was assigned to USS AINSWORTH CDE-10903 as Precommissioning Weapons Officer. In 1974 LCDR Lieberman reported to USS HARLAN COUNTY CLST-11969 as Engineering Officer. LCDR Lieberman assumed command of USS ENHANCE CMSO-4373 in 1975. He reported to Commander Strike Force South, Naples, Italy in 1977 where he served as Assistant Chief of Staff for Administration. ln June 1981 LCDR Lieberman assumed duties as Executive Officer, USS TRENTON CLPD-141. LCDR Lieberman is married to the former Linda Joyce Anderson from Mobile, Alabama. They have two children and reside in Virginia Beach.
