CHRISTMAS PAGEANT --1949 The Christmas Program was enjoyed by the performers as well as the audience, Several vocal and quartet numbers were rendered. The Chorus work showed some time had been spent in preparation for the zero hour. The grammer grades were represented by quite a number of cherub- like faces dressed in white robes and black bows Qties that is The Senior Choir was composed of slightly less angelic faces but their hearts being in the right places, the show went over with a bang. The stage was decorated with a white picket fence, covered with palmettoes and pine sprigs. The costumes and stage decorations were indeed neat and appropriate. All this and the soft flowing music from our own dis- tinguished pianist contributed to the success of our Christmas Pageant. 'f1'v 71A3 . tk 'P' X Gig ' 23

Every detail humanly possible fold mother nature really threatened us for awhile with a black 'look of fdisapprovalj was prepared well in advance so that the carnival spirit could reign supreme! Even the faculty lay buried peacefully in the faculty graveyard within a short distance of the teaming fish pond and the popular hot dog stand. The shouts of an auctioneer boomed loudly above the carnival chatter-- One dollar once, one dollar twice, one dollar three times- SOLD- to the highest bidder! The cakes were gone! Nine o'clock-the crowd shifted to the auditorium for a well planned amateur show. Students from kindergarten to high school showed forth their talents in a. professional way. No one dreamed of such talent! Every- thing from vocal solos and tap dancing to tumbling and heavy-weight lifting was rendered before an applauding audience. In the high school the first prize was awarded to The Two Nuts and an ldiot , namely Charles Rogers, Woodburn Schofield, and Millard Stanley for their interpretation of Clancy Lowered the Boom . The second prize went to the tumbling team, Bobby Hawkins, Harry Coleman, and Billy and Edward Martin.
