fl f ' Q.-5 KD C' P '?KQa if 'xg 2-N THIS AND THAT We would like to mention a few of the things that have been added in the last two years to help make a better school in Trenton. Last year we started our annual Halloween Carnival. From the carnival we cleared about seven hundred fifty dollars. The entire faculty met and decided how the money was to be used. They decided on some things for the use of the school in general and the remaining sum was prorated among the rooms. This amount was divided by the number of pupils in school, then each teacher multiplied this amount by the number of pupils in her ropm at the time of the carnival. Thus the amount per room was determined. The teachers bought play- ground equipment, pictures window shades, and teaching aids such as maps, charts, and art supplies with their money. Every good school should have a Parent-Teacher Association. We revived one that has been inactive for about ten years. Results from a P. T. A. cannot be valued or weighed on a scale, but all teachers know that there is now a closer contact between teachers, parents and children. For the last two years our Christmas Pageant has given a real message to overflowing crowds in the school auditorium. Our bus drivers cooperated and ran the buses for those who would otherwise have had no transportation. Our school now has a loud speaking system equaled by few and surpassed by none. The picture machine has been repaired and we have had some outstanding pictures. Every class from the first through the twelfth has presented a program in chapel. Every child has been given an opportunity to have a part on these programs. Most of the time the elementary grades have had their programs at a separate time from the junior and senior high school because of varied interests. working through the Rotary Club, several children, needing glasses but unable to buy them received treatment and glasses. Another thing that has helped our school is the new books added to the library. Nearly three hundred dollars' worth of books are being enjoyed by the entire school. These are the first new books placed in the library in a number of years. A better attitude toward school is evident in that the Senior Class of 19'-+8 left a gift to the school which cost well over one hundred dollars. Last year for the first time we had an intra-mural sports con- test. This contest was won by the seventh grade. The introduction of a Beta Club to the school has created a great deal of interest. This is a national organization honoring senior high school students of outstanding achievement, leadership, and all-round ability. To make the Beta Club in high school is an honor for any boy or girl! lt is not to be overlooked that our athletic teams are among the best equipped teams of the state. We have spent 82062.07 for athletic equipment this year. Fifty UT'sN were awarded this year.
