A. or Girls' Athletic Association is an organization to help all girls belonging to take an interest in all recreational activities, and to show co-operation and good sportsmanship. The activities in which the G. A. A. members take part are: soft- ball, basketball, Ping -pong, volleyball, badminton, tennis, archery, and a wide range of other healthful and invigorating activities. The G. A. A. also took several breakfast hikes earlier in the fall. They were usually made around the city within the vicinity of two or three miles. Monthly meetings are held in the high school for this group, with a committee serving refreshments, and providing the entertainment. For certain holidays like Christmas and Valentine's Day, special parties are held in the Band Room which is decorated to suit the holiday. The G. A. A. is run on a point basis, for which each activity is ac- credited a certain number of points for creditsl. When the required amount of credits is reached, with a definite total of points for each specified activity, the creditholders may rece ive the award equal to the points held. There are four awards, one for each year. The annual health examination which is required for membership includes an examination of the heart, eyes, teeth, and ears. When this examination is completed, and the certificate shows the approval of a doctor the girl is allowed to partake in any of the required activities ' mentioned above. 37
