Community Officials Play Host to T. H. S. Pupils During Social-Study Tour School and Communit Unite or a More Effective Education NIJINTRY, business and government of Trenton have shoyvn more than the layman's interest in the program of edu- cation offered for youth at Central High School. NVhen a survey of local business and industry was conducted by Samuel liberly, the Director of the Student Placement Bureau, he found that there vvas a manifest desire on the part of all vvhom he interviewed to make sugges- tions and cooperate for the vvelfare of Trenton's youth. ln some instances busi- nessmen have given opportunities to Trenton lligh pupils to enter their estab- lishments and gain experience In supple- ment their study tif commerce at school Government otlicials. too, have been gracious in permitting hundreds of the students enrolled in the Social Studies courses to visit all the municipal build- ings in order to learn their functions in the community. hcores of professional men have given unstintingly of their time to come to the school on Study Day to advise groups of students vvho have stated their interests in specific professions. The concerted drive of the school and the community to unite in a program of education augurs vvell for the future. Xe Central High School Students Make World a Classroom kiiNToN Central lligh School has made the world its classroom. Graduation from such a school nieans that there is no sharp break between the activities of the student and the duties of the citizen. 'l'o fulfill this aini. schedules have been ar- ranged with special attention given to their elass ticity in permitting frequent visits to places of educational value. lispecial success has marked the endeavor to project everv student into the active life of Trenton. lfarly in October ofhcials of 'l'renton's Com- niunitv Chest turned over the control of their organization to a group of our senior students who received invaluable experience in the nian- agenient of this huge project for one day. Fur- ther and continued participation in 'l'renton's civic life was nurtured by a special program of visits conducted under the aegis of the Social Studies department. Visits Occurred on lfednesday These visits took place each XVednesdav as a special Study-Day feature. The tours familiar' ized the pupils with the work of such civic buildings as the Nlunicipal Colony.
