Sports in accordance with the season of the year are provided for every student. In the fall the girls' classes have a choice of speedball or hockey. During the indoor season the girls have basketball. Health Department swimming and servus ball. At this time they also prepare for Sports Nite. Boys may try out for one of the varsity teams in football or soccer. During the indoor season they participate chiefly in basketball. boxing and wrestling. ln spring they have activities in tennis, track and baseball. :Xn invaluable phase of the health de- partment is the medical room under the supervision of Harriet Xvieand, the nurse. ln every activity, whether physical or academic, the welfare of the student is of the greatest importance. Boys in the wood shop classes make practical pieces of furniture for the home, and are of special benefit to the school in construct- ing numerous properties for student pro- ductions. The print shop provides experi- ences to its students through a detailed program that is practical as well as theo- retical. The students are prepared for an apprenticeship in the printing business. Electricity may be studied in the elec- Shop and Fine Art Departments trical shops where many useful electrical appliances are made. including the con- structions of radio. Future mechanics select either the auto or machine shops where all types of machines are carefully studied. A fine arts course offers instruc- tion, appreciation in the basic principles of stagecraft, designing and drawing. XVork upon the schools dramatic pro- ductions provides many of the fine-arts students with opportunities to put their abilities into real creative work. For advanced students in mechanical draw- ing and draughting there is a special course available.
