Sports in accordance with the season of the year are provided for every student. In the fall the girls' classes have a choice of speedball or hockey. During the indoor season the girls have basketball. Health Department swimming and servus ball. At this time they also prepare for Sports Nite. Boys may try out for one of the varsity teams in football or soccer. During the indoor season they participate chiefly in basketball. boxing and wrestling. ln spring they have activities in tennis, track and baseball. :Xn invaluable phase of the health de- partment is the medical room under the supervision of Harriet Xvieand, the nurse. ln every activity, whether physical or academic, the welfare of the student is of the greatest importance. Science Department llliril I a douht the knowledge ot scientilic principles is becoming more and more necessary for intelligent community lite. 'llhe science department is organized to meet the needs for scien- titic knowledge in the home, in industry and in college. Biologv classes are open to sophomores. One course is designed for college pre- paratory students and the other for those who desire a general. rather than an in- tensive course. Physics is primarilv a junior eourse. Students planning to go to college take llSl. Less intensive work may be done hv pupils who do not plan to go to college. Courses l ISZ and l ISS are offered to those who seek a linowl- lm, 5 G. XI .XV edge of every-day seienee. Senior students may eleet college pre- paratory chemistry l2Sl if it suits their needs. Boys not planning to go to college may take l2S2. Girls interested in nurs- ing take l2S3. In this course they solve practical household problems and learn the cheini- eal principles governing them.
