EXPANDING TUDIE PROGRAM AUGME T TUDE T OPPORTUNITIES According to the old saying, L'Variety is the spice of lifef' and life at St. Anthony High has plenty of variety, not only in extracurricular activities but also in curricular offerings as well. Choice of subjects here follows the up-to-date single curriculum, which allows students a wide variety of choices from academic and business programs. Studies range from college preparatory courses to the newly installed Co-operative Work Program, which enables sen- ior business students to divide their school day into school and business life. This program will go into full effect next year. College preparatory courses permit advanced students to prepare themselves for higher education. For example, the academic math program offers both modern and tra- ditional algebra, while the science department includes two types of biology and two types of chemistry. Scientific minded students can take four years of science and four years of mathematics, just as those more interested in language can progress up to four years in any two lan- guages: Latin, and French or Spanish. Two years of German also are offered. Students who wish to take part in the Co-operative Work Program can begin freshman year with general busi- ness training. Each year new courses are offered to inter- ested students. Two new studies this year are salesmanship and small business organization. With the actual start of the C.W.P. next year, new business courses will be introduced. For S.A.'s artistic boy or girl, courses in fine art and commercial art are available. Mechanical drawing is also open to boys, while home economics is open to girls. All students, regardless of their other choices, must take four years of English and two years of United States History. Four years of physical education and health are also required. Indeed S.A.'s curriculum is as varied as the students who share in its benefits. It is arranged to suit the many different personalities that form the student body.
