In the fall of 1946 th1rty s1x students from the TremontCommun1ty ent'ered the pearly whlte doors of T C H S to begln four long years of hwher educatlon We chose Marge Pflederer as presldent She was assxsted by thls staff of off1cers Don Anderson v1ce pres xdent Joanne Excher secretary and Bob Hxnman as treasurer Mrs Stone was chosen as our adv1sor Early 1n the year the Class of '49 honored us w1th a skatxng party at Hxllcrest Later 1n the term, we showed our appreclatlon by treatlng the 49ers to a theatre party at Morton Belng an energetxc class and much 1n need of funds we grasped every opportumty to make an honest dlme sandwtch sales cake raffles and the l1ke ln 1947 th1rty three classmates returned for the sophomore year We lost Clarence Bohm Elsle Lehman Frances Nevllle B111 Patton and Dorothy Wxnkler but gamed Eugene L1scom and Roberta Taylor Len Grubb was elected to the offxce of class presxdency jack Cooper as v1ce presldent Al1ce Huette as secretary and Helen Beutel as treasurer Coach RayWolf offered h1s asslstance and proved to be a very helpful advlsor Durmg the flrst part of the year we entertalned the bewxldered fresh1es to a theatre party In September 1948 twenty elght classmates returned for the bxg year our Junlor year Durlng the summer we lost Joanne Excher Lou1se Cameron Floss1e Bell LaVerne Huette and Ivan Hodgson Marge Pflederer was chosen for the second t1me as presldent Len Grubb Al1ce Huette and Phyll1s Hmman served as v1ce presxdent secretary and trea surer respecuvely Mxss Schnelder and Mrs Sparrow were chosen as our adv1sors Our f1rst ma1n event of the year was the Iumor Class Play Uncertam Wmg presented to a large crowd on the evenmg of November 5 1948 Our class launched the most successful proflt whlch was qu1te a tldy sum was consumed after the Iumor Sen1or Banquet Prom held May 13 1949 xn the Hotel jefferson Peorxa We spent several months 1n preparatlon for thxs event usmg for our theme the 49 ers Phyll1s Hmman and Len Grubb re1gned as Queen and Kmg of the Prom In September 1949 twenty f1ve dlgmfled senxors casually entered the halls of T C H S for the home stretch Eugene Llscom jean Stone and Wally Staker falled to return Len Grubb was agaln honored wlth the presldency and was assxsted by thxs staff of capable off cers jack Cooper v1ce presldent Marge Pflederer secretary Don Hutch1son trea surer Mr Stone and Coach RICCI were chosen as co adv1sors On September 24 our class journeyed to the RembrandtStud1o to have our semor pxctures taken November 17 23 sen1ors toured Caterpxllar Commerc1al Nat1onal Bank and the Peor1a Axrport and Weather Bureau Everyone agreed more was learned on thxs day than a day ln the classroom Durmg the four years our class has gxven many fme athletes to the school We have representatlves on the football and basketball teams, and the wresthng squad These students have promoted studentgovernment 1n our school servmg on the Student councll Nancy Koch four years Lloyd Wmeburner two years Bob H1nma'1 two years Verla Rother one year Ken Knapp one year and Al1ce Huette one year Two bxg events awaxt us 1n the Sprmv the Sen1or Play and the Banquet Prom Then comes graduatxon that day we have all awalted forfour years Now that It IS draw1ng nearer we are a b1t reluctant to see xt come and to b1d farewell to four very happy years at T C H S HISTURY Page 13 D . . . . l 1 C 'D ' . . : , - - 9 -, 3 . . . . . . , ' . . .
