We are now in the mansion ot Eugene McCoy in Miadasvllle,a suburb of Tremont, Illinois, in 1958, His third wife has just died, leaving all her money to him, and he is now a multi-millionaire. The scene finds Vera Moser bringing cocktails in to Gene and an old friend of his,Allen Oyer, who owns Al’s All-Night Diner, a famous, well-known restaurant in Tremont, Perhaps you will remember it as HiId•s Horrible Hash House. The two are reminiscing and wonder- ing what has happened to all their old schoolmates. Oene switches, on the radio and what should greet them but the voice of Jimmy Kelley, the great Frank Sinatra the second and the former Cliff Williams. He and Crystal Hazy, the former Joyce Hazelman, are both in Hollywood making pictures and it has been rumored that the wedding bells will soon be ringing for the two of them. The next voice that greets them is that of Carol Hasty,the only woman sports reporter and announcer. Carol: Folks,thls is your old pal,Carol Hasty, with the most recent sports announcements I can find. T Wilbur Oiffhorn has Just won first place in the Olympic race at New York and Bill Mason has just set a world record of 450 miles in speedway driving. Jim Pflederer,a great forward on the Diesel Cat Basketball quintet, broke his leg while he was trying to show how young and spry he was. Too bad 1 { Will we never learn to act our age? Flash I PlashJ Dick Anderson has finally succeeded in his goal—That was to teach his former basketball coach, Ray Wolf, to play basketball his way. Congratulations, Richard! II While we’re in the field of Bas- ketball, I would like to mention Bob Gibson's famous team. He is coach of the Conocoers,who travel all over the nation and even into Canada.They have never been defeated in three years of playing. Bob is an old friend of mine; I was talking to him the other day. He said he would certainly like to get out there and play himself,but a shoulder injury makes it impossible. He does a fine Job coaching. This may be a little out of my territory,but did you hear about the famous battle in court? Curtis Koch and Fred Woerner both think they are the World’s Greatest Lovers. Time will tellJ Traveling south to the warm climate of Florida, one finds Robert Powers,the World’s Greatest SwimmeJi He is lifeguard at Palm Beach and many a fair damsel' has been rescued by him. Everyone Just loves to gaze at those broad shoulders and beauti- ful tan. Now let us turn to the women in sports. The great center on the Herculette ’ basketball team is Mary Paine. It Is coached by Pilot Maxine Schaumleffle. The team is five years old and has lost no games as yet. Folks, before signing off, I would like to say that the next number is the Vegetarian’s Lullaby written by that famous composer, Elsie Schaefer. It will be played by Bernadine Lutz and her all-man orchestra with Bernle,herself,at the piano. So long 1 See you tomorrow. As the music softly died away. Gene says to Allen, That answers our question as to what happened to some of our classmates Let’s see now—What about Betty Brown? Allen? oh, ha.ven’t you heard? She’s head of the Lonely Hearts Department and has Just found a husband for Darlene Hampton. This makes her fourth husband. I suppose you know she is in Hollywood right now making a picture. She’s a ballet dancer II ] And Margaret, remember her? Well, anyway, she was going to be a nurse, but she fell in love with a doctor and was married instead. And JUne Rapp 1s married, too. She lives in the quiet, little town of Mudvllle. Jack Anderson saw her several weeks ago.She has four small children:twln boys and twin girls. The boys are Terry Ray and Larry Jay; the girls are Sherry Kay and Merry Fay. Of course, she finds no time for her former busy social life but then Mud ville has no busy social life anyway.
