Our class was soon organized with Coach Schoenfeld as our advisor. Bob Gibson was given the honor of becoming our first class president; and Elsie Schaefer, secretary-treasurer.The first big event of the school year was an all school hayrack ride. Next, following an old tradition, the Sophomores honored us with a weiner roast. The last impor- tant event of the year was the pionic at Mineral Springs Park. We boldly entered the halls the’ next year, no longer having the small, green, inferior look of the previous year. We lost five of our class members —Pat Carpenter, Yvonne Wright, Betty Ripper, Joe Rodgers, and Walt Gray, while the Patterson twins were welcomed back into our midst. This year our class advisor was Mr. Schrieber. Our officers were Gene McCoy, president; Allen Oyer, vice-president; Carol Koch, secretary; and Louise Huette, treasurer.By selling sandwiches at school, and hot dogs at basketball games, we increased our treasury. The year passed rapidly, and it was soon time to take the final exams. We had now completed half of our high school course. As nJollyn Juniors, we re-elected Gene McCoy as presidentjhis able assis- tant was again Allen Oyer, while Berna- dine Lutz was secretary;and Carol Koch, treasurer. Jack Anderson, Joe Rodgers, Carol Hasty, and Maxine Schaumleffle, were welcomed into our class which now totaled thirty. Our first big excite- ment was the arrival of our long-await- ed class rings. Next, we all tried our ability to sell magazines, the proceeds of which were to be used for our Junior Senior Prom. One of the most important events of the year was when we put on our Junior Play, The Great Big Door- step , which, we are sure, was the best play Miss Schneider ever produoed. At PROPHECY CONTINUED he doing now? Allen: Oh, he works for Jim Bell who owns the Bell Truck Line. Gene: Is that right? I suppose you know that Carol Koch followed fc her father's footsteps and she now owns Cookie's Sweet-shop in Tremont. the end of the semester, Gene McCoy re- signed as president of our class, and Curt Koch was elected. The last import- ant event of the year was the Junior- Senior Prom at the Jefferson Hotel, to which we had looked forward for three years. Returning to school in the fall, we were at last those sophisticated Seniors!! All of our class members were back except the Patterson twins :andi Emory Kelly. We welcomed Bill Mason into our midst. Curt Koch was chosen to guide us in our final and most important year of high school. Allen Oyer was, for the fourth time, elected as vice-president, and Bernadine Lutz, secretary; and Carol Koch, treasurer. Our class took several conducted tours during the year, which everyone enjoyed. We are looking forward to the end of our year when we will have the Senior play and the Junior-Senior Prom. During the four years many of our class took part in outside activities, such as chorus, band, sports, and Stu- dent Council. Those serving on the latter were Dick Anderson, Vera Moser, Bob Gibson, Louise Huette,Floyd Stuber, and Wilbur Giffhorn. Vera was president of the Student Council this last year, while Bill Mason was president of the Student body. Our class has some of the most outstanding athletes ever to enter the high school among which are Bob Gibson, Floyd Stuber, Wilbur Giffhorn, Diok Anderson, Bill Mason, Jim Pflederer, and Allen Oyer. So now—with sad hearts we bid adieu to dear old T. C. H. S., and the four happiest years of our lives. -mSs Louise is secretary to that famous lawyer,Smitty Applegate, and rumors are that they will soon be married . Allen: I didn't know it, but I do now. That takes care of everyone except Punk, doesn't it? Do you know any- thing about him? Gene: He invented Grow-Baok Hair Tonic and used it himself. It made his hair grow so fast he couldn’t cut it fast enough. I guess he has it under control now. Do you remember --------- — Just then Gene awakes from sleep by the ringing of the alarm clock. Too bad!! It was all only a dream. We are now in the mansion ot Eugene McCoy in Miadasvllle,a suburb of Tremont, Illinois, in 1958, His third wife has just died, leaving all her money to him, and he is now a multi-millionaire. The scene finds Vera Moser bringing cocktails in to Gene and an old friend of his,Allen Oyer, who owns Al’s All-Night Diner, a famous, well-known restaurant in Tremont, Perhaps you will remember it as HiId•s Horrible Hash House. The two are reminiscing and wonder- ing what has happened to all their old schoolmates. Oene switches, on the radio and what should greet them but the voice of Jimmy Kelley, the great Frank Sinatra the second and the former Cliff Williams. He and Crystal Hazy, the former Joyce Hazelman, are both in Hollywood making pictures and it has been rumored that the wedding bells will soon be ringing for the two of them. The next voice that greets them is that of Carol Hasty, the only woman sports reporter and announcer. Carol: Folks, thls is your old pal,Carol Hasty, with the most recent sports announcements I can find. T Wilbur Oiffhorn has Just won first place in the Olympic race at New York and Bill Mason has just set a world record of 450 miles in speedway driving. Jim Pflederer,a great forward on the Diesel Cat Basketball quintet, broke his leg while he was trying to show how young and spry he was. Too bad 1 { Will we never learn to act our age? Flash I PlashJ Dick Anderson has finally succeeded in his goal—That was to teach his former basketball coach, Ray Wolf, to play basketball his way. Congratulations, Richard! II While we’re in the field of Bas- ketball, I would like to mention Bob Gibson's famous team. He is coach of the Conocoers, who travel all over the nation and even into Canada. They have never been defeated in three years of playing. Bob is an old friend of mine; I was talking to him the other day. He said he would certainly like to get out there and play himself, but a shoulder injury makes it impossible. He does a fine Job coaching. This may be a little out of my territory, but did you hear about the famous battle in court? Curtis Koch and Fred Woerner both think they are the World’s Greatest Lovers. Time will tellJ Traveling south to the warm climate of Florida, one finds Robert Powers, the World’s Greatest SwimmeJi He is lifeguard at Palm Beach and many a fair damsel' has been rescued by him. Everyone Just loves to gaze at those broad shoulders and beauti- ful tan. Now let us turn to the women in sports. The great center on the Herculette ’ basketball team is Mary Paine. It Is coached by Pilot Maxine Schaumleffle. The team is five years old and has lost no games as yet. Folks, before signing off, I would like to say that the next number is the Vegetarian’s Lullaby written by that famous composer, Elsie Schaefer. It will be played by Bernadine Lutz and her all-man orchestra with Bernle, herself,at the piano. So long 1 See you tomorrow. As the music softly died away. Gene says to Allen, That answers our question as to what happened to some of our classmates Let’s see now—What about Betty Brown? Allen? oh, ha.ven’t you heard? She’s head of the Lonely Hearts Department and has Just found a husband for Darlene Hampton. This makes her fourth husband. I suppose you know she is in Hollywood right now making a picture. She’s a ballet dancer II ] And Margaret, remember her? Well, anyway, she was going to be a nurse, but she fell in love with a doctor and was married instead. And JUne Rapp 1s married, too. She lives in the quiet, little town of Mudvllle. Jack Anderson saw her several weeks ago.She has four small children:twln boys and twin girls. The boys are Terry Ray and Larry Jay; the girls are Sherry Kay and Merry Fay. Of course, she finds no time for her former busy social life but then Mud ville has no busy social life anyway.
