54 A'+'+ '1-A N '+'Av+ 'A'A'-'+vA v a W '1'Av+'+'AvA'-'A'+'+ M 'A-+-+vA'A'+'A'+'+ M 'A'Q'-'A WWW TE Operating Committee of the Paoli Area High School System lst W Brosius H Samworth W Gustatson L Ron y H M uston W Anton D J Spangler d P Kummer O Hammond A Byecrott J Palmer R Sou er The Operating Committee conducts its attairs by a method known as the Committee System There are eight standing committees Building Finance Salary lnsurance Legislative Transportation Public Relations Athletic Council Chairmen ot these committees are members ot the Operating Committee Committee members are selected trom thirty two board members these members being assigned to committees where their special experience and knowledge will be valuable Once each month these standing committees report to the Operating Committee the studies they have made in their respective tields and recommendations tor Committee wherever action must be taken ln addition to these standing committees the president with the authorization ot the Operating Committee appoints tempo rary committees to study speclal problems which arise By this method the boards are assured that each ot their problems will be studied intensively by board members with experience in that tield yet tinal decision will be made by its Operating Committee which studies the recommendation with relation to other decisions it must make As a typical example should the Transpor tation Committee recommend the purchase ot a school bus the Finance Committee mu t decide whether the money can be made available and the Building Committee may have to decide where the bus might be housed During the past year there have been more than l5O meetings by board members ot these six districts The malority ot these meetings have been tor the purpose ot solving problems ot a new high school iointure Working with unanimity and speed unusual in new Iointures they have accomplished much One striking oractical exam ple is the tact that only nine months atter the iointure was tormed ground was broken tor a new Senior High School which is scheduled to start operation Sep tember I955 I3 t - .
